This movie has so many layers. One of the biggest takeaways I had was how Sam literally returns to the church looking like he was nearly lynched but his father could only focus on the fact that he was holding a guitar. It just reminded me so much of how some Christians are so focused on someone's "lifestyle" choices that they completely ignore the true evils of the world.

Touching on Smoke attempting to roll a cigarette at the end but can't, Keep in mind that only Stack knows how to roll and does so throughout the entire movie due to his own tremors. So there is literally no smoke without Stack.

Movies were definitely made for people like you. I love watching competent reactors who don't just react & continously ask questions that are right infront of their eyes, but intelligently marry clues together & have thorough discussions after. You can always tell when people are not doing this for just the views, but really appreciate film making.

I do love the fact that Stack kept his word to Smoke, and never bothered Sammy. Only when he was near death did he appear, and it was to give him a choice. As soon as Sammy turned it down, Stack was ready to leave, but I love that he asks for one last taste of "the real" before he goes, as he ain't ever going to be coming back to hear it again.

Slim's sacrifice was so raw. He wasn't fearless or stoic while doing so like how it's usually done but the complete opposite. He was terrified of being killed by those monsters but sacrificed himself anyway for Sammie's safety. Under rated/appreciated character💯

32:36 being part Native American when they appeared, I was so happy they came, they warned, then properly f'd off lol. They're too smart for all that.

Also, note how Stack and Mary, who couldnt be together while mortal, are now seen together forever once turned. Its tragic they had to be turned into 'monsters' but in a way it allows them to finally have the freedom to be together they never could before while alive.

I believe no one has pointed this out but at the end when we see old Sammy jamming with his band we can see he named it "the Pearlines" in honor of the lady he fell in love that tragic night.

Ryan Coogler is a phenomenal filmmaker. His ability to blend emotional depth with commentary without ever losing sight of the character is a testament to his talent.

The whole "I Lied To You" sequence felt like a genuine spiritual experience when I saw this in IMAX. Couldn't stop thinking about it for a long while afterwards
