One year at Applebees I went alone. I told the waitress that if anyone wanted to share the table, that was fine by me. I was likely 65 then, the youngest. To my right, was a Vietnam Veteran (I just missed Vietnam) Across from me was a Korean Veteran. And to my right was a World War II Veteran. That is a meal I will never forget. I was Desert Shield.

Not to put any company blast, but am I the only one that notices that the two companies that make the most off of service members, McDonalds & Burger King offer nothing on Veterans Day. You will find one of these two restaurants on most military installations. It’s a shame that don’t give back to the veterans on Veterans Day. Just one retirees thoughts

One very important thing that was not mentioned. Once you receive your veteran/military offer is to go out to the companies web site and thank them for supporting veterans. it just takes a couple of minutes and should help ensure continued support of our military personel. This is very important as appreciation should go both ways.

The one thing that I’ve seen overlooked a lot is these companies are giving you a free meal but you still have a waitress. Make sure you leave a nice tip because if you walk in there and get a free meal and just leave and not tip the waitress or waiter you’re wrong and you need to because not well you guys just got a free meal leave a $10 bill on the table watch what happens later.

Semper Fi

Don’t forget about Little Caesars pizza. They give Veterans a free lunch size pepperoni pizza along with a free soda until, I think 2:00 pm.

Since I went hungry once upon a time for months (I'm good now), its good to hear that other Veterans have a chance to get at least one decent meal.
