They were never the same after Cliff. He shaped them in those early days. Justice for instance would've been even better if he'd lived. You'd certainly have bass audible on it at least.

Love how Metallica's sound has changed over the decades. Their first decade was so youthful & energetic.

To me 🌩 RIDE THE LIGHTING 🌩 is the best most must-have album ever produced by MetallicA, also has the best song titles, cover art etc also think James at this point was singing his best 👌

I heard 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' for the first time in 1997, around age 12. It broke my concept of music and has lived rent free in my head ever since.

In the thumbnail James looks like one of those cartoon bacterias you see on posters in the hospital.

Their best album. I first heard this when a friend had it on his walkman it was playing Creeping Death and I liked it,so I ended up getting a copy of the album and was blown away by Fight Fire with Fire, this heavy thrash assaulting me.Then hearing the rest of the album and the whole LP was outstanding.Just a killer album.

Thank You featuring this. RTL is my personal favorite album from Metallica🙂

Although Master Of Puppets and/or 'The Black album' gets the bulk of praise for trail blazing certain paths, it was Ride the Lightning where they perfected their winning formula. From having straight balls to the walls heavy hitters (Fight Fire w/ Fire, Ride The Lightning) to a deep power ballad (Fade To Black) to savy historical-literature reference (For Whom The Bells Toll, Creeping Death) to melodic instrumentals (Call Of The Cthulu)👍🙂

Hetfield, Ulrich, Burton & Mustaine will have writing credits on Ride The Lightning! James, Lars & Cliff will have their names on a Megadeth album!
