  WD-40 will temporarily lubricate your hinges and other things, but it was never meant to be a longer-term lubricant. Pick a similar penetrating oil which contains PTFE/Teflon or graphite or other dry lubricant which will remain behind on the hinges after the light carrier/penetrating oil dries up. &nbsp;Be sure to shake the can thoroughly before applying.

  Vaseline on rubber is a bad idea. Over time, Vaseline or any petroleum product will degrade rubber. I use a cloth soaked with silicone spray or protectant and have never had a problem, even at -25F. Remember to do the seals on your hood, trunk lid or hatch, too.

  I use spray cooking oil on all my squeaky or stiff hinges and locks. &nbsp;Works a charm. &nbsp;Sprayed into house flyscreen door locks, squeaky door hinges, squeaky letterbox hinges. &nbsp;Lasts longer as any moisture runs off.

  Okay I had mice making nests in my vents So I took a plastic Roto-Rooter stick you can get at the Dollar Tree and shoved it in there and all the little hooks on that thing pulled everything out took a few times but it worked.
