i work on the Scotsman equivalent to these. that squeal you hear is the ice machine cleaner and ice trying to push itself up the auger, usually you let it ride out until it stops though, never stop the cycle when it is squealing. deff need to pull the auger and inspect the evap drum for cuts in the barrel and the auger for deformation if its been rubbing on the inside. Also that gear motor may also have water entering its gearbox, ive seen this on the scottsman but im assuming its gonna be similar to hoshi, but when you pull that auger and stuff, it may be worth checking that gear motor drive coupling for ware, and if there is a way to check the gearbox oil do so!! youll know if the seal was bad and allowing water into the gearbox.

Just went to a hoshi annual class for the 1st time last week. They harped on the one time use of the selfsealing bolts.
