I was married in the St Peters Church at the Greenough Hamlet, and the 3rd generation of my wives family to do so. still go to every Christmas and Easter service every year. Very rich in history in these parts! very proud to be called a local, and love seeing it showcased! Thank you!

Hi Ian, my dad (RIP) and family restored Greenough in the 1980’s. Contracted by the national trust, my dad lived there and traveled from Perth to Greenough every two weeks for 15 odd years. All the buildings you walked through I grew up in, helping my dad restore. All the buildings had shingled roofs. I know because my dad and brothers had to replace every single roof there. Lots of life memories, thank you for showing it. 🍺👍

Possibly some small towns do get thru traffic but the majority are usual on bypass highways with mega petrol stations taking care of those travelling through, pretty much killing off some of the smaller towns.
But things are slowly going the other way with many people who live in the big cities moving to these smaller towns and with some tourism they can survive.

I always like calling into these smaller towns just to have a break from driving, and small towns do have a charm about them that makes you remember the world hasn't left everyone behind 👍

A keen follower of your trips across Australia and NZ. Your disappointment with room charge at Coral bay was visible and I felt for you. When you get to Perth, avoid Rottnest Island, they mastered the art of accommodation ripoff better than anybody I know of. We paid $350/night ($1050 for 3 nights) back in 1998 (28 years ago) for the most rudimentary room we ever stayed (no couch, no kitchen, no fridge, except a double bed in the middle of a room-touted as eco tourism). We couldn't even swim there because of constant presence of stinging jellies. Now, they charge $750-$900+/night I noticed, for only a modest motel room! Unfortunately, such rip offs take all the fun out of travelling.

Loving you video's Ian!! Lived over 30 years in WA, working in Mining, Oil and Gas, have been everywhere across this vast land and Asia and the Middle East.... I have lived in every State and Territory in Oz and yet you are visiting places I have never been to!! Was stunned when you said Monkey Mia charged to hand out with the Dolphins, and the prices of EVERYTHING has blown my mind!! We never paid for these places!! Love your commentary and travels, One of the Best YouTubers out there!! Shalom and blessings from Toowoomba in Queensland (have a bed-set in The Peak District and an Apartment in Haifa!!). Not been back home since Plod came to my brother and sistern-in-laws to investigate on of my "Tweets". My sister-in-law (awarded an OBE personally from Queen Elizabeth for services to Physics, she and my brother both Emeritus Professors in Physics) told Plos to "look up", an A321 Air France Jet from MAN to TLV.... Helen said, "you'll have to hurry", he's on his way home back to Israel...... Plod was not impressed.... p.s. Plod's - one male, one female, both less than 5'4".....

Those high ceilings have a practice reason in Australia they help keep the building cool in the torcherous heat.
