We were so excited to do this episode! If you don't know by now, food tasting videos are our FAVORITE! So how did we like our Swedish snacks? Watch and find out! We have quite a few things here, from the Christmas time drink of Glogg to Cloudberries, chocolate bars and different breads, cheeses and more! Please let us know if any of these are your favorites, especially if you are living in Sweden. We purchased all of these items ourselves from our International Market here in our city where everything is imported. First of all I just want to say: you are amazing for staying clean off the alcohol! And no Swede would ever judge you for drinking non-alcoholic glögg - it's just as popular if even more popular than the one with alcohol in it, since kids can drink it, too.

Love that you got such a variety of things! You've got some very popular things there are probably the most famous knäckebröd of all - the reason why it's round with a hole in it is because traditional knäckebröd was thread of a wooden stick and hung from the ceiling. Leksand is a very picturesque little town and the red horse on the packaging is a 'dalahäst' which is a kind of symbol for the Swedish region Dalarna. It's that wooden horse you saw a huge version of it one of your reaction videos. There are plenty of Swedish cheeses, we love cheese so much we invented a 'cheese shaver' (osthyvel) that makes thin slices of cheese to go on things like knäckebröd, so you are doing us proud.

And you pronounced kex perfectly (although some dialects here use a soft k), any Swede would understand you! It also comes in a dark chocolate version that's vegan. Also, yes, you do eat Nöt-Créme (nöt = nut) like that - straight out of the packaging. You can spread it on something if you like though.

Guld-Marie (Golden Marie) is a very nostalgic thing for us, we grow up eating it. It's one of those things you give to kids instead of other more sugary things. They are vanilla flavoured I think but it's mild. I could easily eat half a roll of them in summer.

Heating glögg in the microwave is fine, really. You do you! It doesn't make any difference, really, I'm not sure who told you not to use the microwave. It gets a bad rep for no particular reason. It's made for heating liquid after all so why not use it for that.

(Just one thing about pronounciation. People have probably already told you but I've come to realise that it's pretty common to think å and ä are just a vartion of a, and that ö is just a variation of o. They're not, they are letters of their own. ö sounds a bit like the 'u' in 'hurt', å like 'o' in 'more' and ä like 'ai' in 'fair'.)

Hello from Sweden. Since a was a kid I eat Guld-Marie with butter...and sometimes even with cheese. Have a great day! 👋🏼

About Nöt-créme, you are exactly right. You suck them directly into your mouth. I love those. They were made to be confectionary ingredients in the 40’s, but kids just began slurping them, and they’ve been in the candy isle ever since.

Natasha nailed it again with the Nöt creme. It is meant to be spread, but those little packets are often sold in bags or as part of pick n mix. And people pretty much just open them and squeeze them directly into their mouth.

Hello from Sweden! You know what helps when you pay dearly for cloudberries? Knowing where they grow and what it's like to pick them. They are not cultivated but grow on mires in the forest. They are picked one by one by hand, you sink with your boots into the mire and there are always an awful lot of mosquitoes where they grow. So when I can't get the berries from some lunatic I know who picked them, I'm happy to pay to avoid all the mosquito bites I'd get if I picked them myself.
Perfect pronunciation of kex!
The marabou chocolate you ate is the most boring in the assortment, there are plenty of more fun flavors. Schweizernöt is a classic for those who like nuts. Marie is usually only given to small children who are happy with less sugar.Good reaction!

Hard cheese is not cut with a knife in Sweden. We have a special tool for slicing cheese. (Osthyvel)

We eat ginger snaps with Glögg. I picked cloudberries in Norway och Sweden this summer. And did my own jam. I felt so rich! 🙂
