In the US, Dell has—or had—a completely different status than it does here in Germany. Back in the late 90s and early 2000s, they advertised endlessly in all our PC and gaming magazines. Their PCs were massively overpriced, Intel-only, and came with crippled BIOS and a host of other limitations. Dell clearly pursued a different strategy in the US.
