The most fascinating part of Bill and Dave's story isn't just their products, but how they built the 'HP Way'. Trusting their engineers enough to leave the tool rooms unlocked on weekends for personal projects was a stroke of leadership genius. Today, so many tech companies preach 'company culture', but very few actually trust their people like that. Do you think that management style could still work in today's corporate world?

As a life long technician I considered HP instrumentation gear indispensable. I always thought that when they split the PC/printer and instrument divisions that the instrument division should have kept the HP name. Not the PC/printer division. Thanks for this video rundown on the company.

I have an HP 14 inch touch screen laptop running Windows 11. It is nice to finally learn the history behind the HP name. Thank you for this presentation.

Even before I graduated as an EE in the 1970s, I wanted to work for HP!! I loved their instrumentation, especially their oscilloscopes!

I have tens of HP instruments in my lab, from the 50’ to early 2000, the majority of them still perfectly working. This brand makes me fall in love with electronics instruments and I believe they have learned to the world how to measure in electronics. I believe that changing the name to the instrument division has been an error and the today Keysight, despite is selling top notch products, does not have the appeal as HP would have. What a history BTW. Super video ❤️

I really enjoyed this video. I would like to see one about Beckman Instruments. Arnold O. Beckman was also a pioneer in silicon valley and the story behind it is well worth exploring.

I worked for HP from 1970--1978 on the equipment used by US Navy. Joined HP in 1978 and retired 2015 from the test and measurement spin-off Agilent/Keysight. Met both Bill and Dave at gatherings and picnics. What a fantastic company!!!
