  An analysis, with spoiler warnings of course, of Surge, Kit, and their toxic, co-dependent, fabricated relationship would be an interesting topic. If you’re familiar with the IDW comics, Kit the Fennec Fox is one rejection away from becoming like Nine. At least based on the latest issues. Their traits are the inverse of Sonic and Tails: Sonic is cocky, merciful, and selfless, Surge is arrogant, rage-filled, and selfish. Tails is hopeful, confident, and became independent, Kit is bleak, timid, and dependent. Where Sonic and Tails became brothers and partners, Surge and Kit are one bad accident from breaking apart. Kit could spiral and become as bad or worse than Nine, and depending on the writers, Surge could become a type of anti-hero that tolerates Sonic and others, but relates to Shadow more. But the two’s deviation into ruthless villian and cocky anti-hero would be a slow, gradual change. It’s funny though, while Surge makes a good argument against Sonic and his principals, half the time it feels like her rage aginst him isn’t even hers. Just fabricated by Starline.

  As much as I would like to believe such characters could never break if Sonic made better choices, but it wouldn&apos;t be good storytelling if that happened so the former to believe there would be something to break characters like this was always going to happen.
