  When we moved into our new house on 2.5 acres 20 years ago we bought bundles of arborvitaes from the County. They were just sticks. We couldn&apos;t afford established trees. We planted them all around our property including on the street side. We ended up with a drought and I watered and watered those tiny plants. 20 years later I have privacy around my whole property including the street. It was the best thing we did. I don&apos;t have to watch what is going on with the neighbors and have a park like setting and privacy. I was hoping they would block more noise as we are near a busy County road but they didn&apos;t. The one thing I don&apos;t like about our location.

  I planted a living fence four years ago bc we were planning to put in a pool. I didn’t stick with traditional a planted Dwarf Alberta Spruce on each end, a Blue Ice Arizona Cypress, Forever Golden Arborvitae, and a Garnet Japanese Maple in the middle. At the base I have two Golden Mop Cypress, and two Blue Star Junipers. In the fall they are the most vibrant before the Maple loses its leaves and put on quite a show. My neighbor acted a little offended but now she loves them and has planted a bed on her side and refers to the trees as “the pretty ladies!” 🍁

  There is a nice big park in my city. &nbsp;At the back of their big lilly garden they have a row of I would guess to be about 50 large evergreens I always liked. &nbsp;I have now settled on they are the giant arborvitae trees. &nbsp;The neetles are soft and don&apos;t really stick you when touched. &nbsp;Are thick (can&apos;t see through them) and have this shape. &nbsp;Absolutely beautiful. &nbsp;I did notice when we had a brutal hot dry summer a few of them had sections that died. &nbsp;Such a shame.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=277VyncdZuo&amp;t=168">2:48</a> Instead of trying to mow in those tiny curves between the trees I&apos;d opt to put mulch in the gap to make a straight line. &nbsp;To enhance the appearance add a bush in the center of the gap along with some ground cover or perennials on each side of the bush. &nbsp;This way there&apos;s foliage of 3 heights to make a nice layered look and easier mowing.

  Great video. I really enjoy seeing full size specimens and examples in real life. Most videos don&apos;t show the finished product, so it&apos;s hard to imagine how they look at maturity, and how the privacy screen will look from different perspectives.

  its amazing how big these grow. &nbsp;some of my neighbors have ones that were planted 15 years ago and they are more than 40 feet tall. &nbsp;magnificent
