  WARNING: When I went on my motorcycle to a remote evening market I think I escaped getting beat up last night because I spoke Thai. When I got off my motorcycle at a late Thai market where no Westerners were seen but me, a man on a motorcycle about 5 feet way from me gave me a very hostile look. In Thai I said: 1) Sorry, 2) Do I have a problem?, 3) Would you like me to move my motorcycle? I pointed to two different places. (The motorcycles were parked in an empty lot about 3 deep) He just glared at me in a very hostile way, 4) Sorry, 5) I don’t understand. 6) At that point he smiled. 7) As I walked by him I said Thank you 8) Good luck.

  It’s gone far beyond safety. The current government is definitely putting out a vibe that western tourists are not welcome..I suspect this year tourists will accommodate them and go to other more welcoming destinations.

  This is just a click bait.  Of course, people want to visit Thailand and will always want to visit Thailand.  The large amount of tourists is why some people don't want to go to Thailand.

  been in the land of smiles for 25 years. but not the tourist areas. agree with comments below ,they seem to be shooting themselves in the foot ,always too complacent with the status quo when any trip to SE Asia was to Thailand but now ? well ,still very cheap ,generally safe and guranteed sun most months,that's what the punters want eh ? and of course the ladies
