Calgar must be split into shards like Magnus at this point, for the amount of times he’s turned up

The Imperium really chose to call those hive cities "Acheron", "Tartarus" and "Hades" and then act surprised when the world goes to shit.

Ian truly is the David Attenborough of Grimdark stuff at this point.

"Tu'Shan," said Calgar, as he clasped his brother's wrist in the ancient greating of warriors, "I have your orders here. I know you turned up with 720 marines and I turned up with 100 and you were going to lead the 2nd War for Armageddon until you deferred to Dante so should have seniority here, but I called shotgun, sorry. I'm assigning to you Hive Infernus. I know you defended Hive Tempestora last time and you're legends to those residents and you know the terrain, but we think Infernus suits you better because... fire. And you'll be fighting alongside the Marines Malevolent because apparently you have a history of fighting. Ok? Have a great time, I'm off to ask the Necropolis Hawks why they have abandoned the Nachmund Rift to fight here."

The fact that the Ultramarines aren’t even there in force, but are still in command and thus the most important people there is so funny. GW really, truly can’t write anything else.

Adding in the Votann felt weird at first, but I actually do appreciate it as a very simple way of them saying "yeah, there are non-imperium mercenaries also involved. Go nuts" opening an easy door for people to build corsairs or kroot or whatever and making some head canon about their force being involved with Armageddon somehow. Was it the intention? Maybe not, but I still like it
