  Learning this entire anime is one giant PSA about addictions is pretty clever. As someone who works in Corrections (Prison) I can say that there are real life equivalents to these characters, male and female alike! Addiction is crazy and no joke. I've seen poor fools who would literally rob their grannies if they could get money to feed their next fix, it's awful.

  The reason is simple. Addiction isn&apos;t pretty and ruins lives and the show will protray that and not glorify that.<br><br>The show is telling you at almost every moment. Addiction is not good, it is very bad. You do not wanna live like this.

  The fact that so many people refuse to watch this anime is ironically the entire point of the anime. Becoming addicted to substances, drugs and horrible habits will make you fall to rock bottom. Not many people want to see others who have fallen that low because they tend to live lives that are genuinely that disgusting due to their addictions. It would be weird if they showed addictions are being mild.

  This anime shows who actually grew up remembering the 2000&apos;s and those who didn&apos;t. It&apos;s on par with many shows that did the same thing in the past. Also anime before the early 2010&apos;s is more likely to be worse than Chainsmoker Cat due to the laws that were put in place around this time on anime.

  The anime is probably one of the best ones this year, behind the gross humour it is actually really good at tackling real societal issues in an entertaining format.<br>It is also an uncomfortable mirror to many viewers.

  Most of the articles that claims Japan is dropping it over it being gross are just western journalists lying. From what I’ve seen online Japanese anime fans are mostly fine with the show, some enjoying it and some just have little opinion so it’s not nearly as hated as the claims make it out to be. Not the first time western journalists push their narrative onto the Japanese and make claims like this. It’s literally part of why Japan is starting to get fed up with our western media and the new audience who seek to over criticize and change Japanese media and anime.

  Like a lot of people are saying, this show (adapted from a manga) is a PSA. It&apos;s a warning.<br>Don&apos;t do drugs, don&apos;t drink, don&apos;t smoke, etc.<br>And above all it&apos;s trying make people realise that the &quot;She/He&apos;s so cute, even if he/she smokes/drinks/etc.&quot; is a mental trap. Don&apos;t fall for them, they have a problem that&apos;s going to destroy themselves, their lives and you, get them help, don&apos;t fall for them and enable them.
