  I feel Mozgus is as scary as he is because he truly believes what he is preaching. He doesn’t have ulterior motives or a lust for power, and he isn’t just using God as an excuse to cause suffering. Someone who has moral absolutism like that is dangerous and terrifying.

  Guts is the embodiment of "put the whole team on my back" his dream, became revenge instead. Justice for his dead friends. BUT... it's killing him. Making him old. Griffith is the embodiment of evil, he controls evil. (Plus all the esoteric connections and mythology, etc. he's the embodiment of the wind element and final "godhand"). Guts can't kill EVIL with EVIL. The hound of darkness must be overcome. Not let go, but forgiveness. He still cares about Griffith 1 tiny shred, symbolized by the strand of hair he was able to cut. He's never stopped grieving. The only way forward and to get rid of Griffith, is by not becoming him. (Hence current chapter.) He's going to have to best Griffith same way he did on Hill of Swords. No emotion.. Calm.. centered and aligned with his shadow and purpose. (Plus boost from Berserk armor, behelit, etc.)
