  Centralia did not inspire the Silent Hill games. It inspired the setting for the 2006 movie, as per screenwriter Roger Avary (the internal production name was 'Centralia'), but game developers like Masahiro Ito has long ago debunked the claim that Centralia specifically inspired them. The games were meant to be just Generic Small American Town.

  I'm from Titusville, PA, where the first oil well was drilled. It's very close to Pithole ghost town and I've been there. Awesome history.

  We visited Centralia several times with my now deceased father. He was a big fan of Stephen King novels and wrote to the author in hopes he could use the town as a back drop for a future novel. He received a hand written letter from the author thanking him for the idea. To my knowledge King never used the idea in his writing but my father cherished that letter till the day he passed.

  We went to the abandon turnpike tunnels as a photography group about 15 years ago.  Looking at the newer videos of this place there has been much more graffiti added since we were there. We got some awesome photos from there

  Limerick, PA should have made the list.  A town was abandoned when they built the nuclear power plant.

  you forgot Livermore flooded by the Conemaugh Dam in Westmoreland county. The cemetery is still there. It was in the movie Dawn of the Dead

  Shinglehouse, PA. Potter Country. Bordering NY state. From our home just 7 miles from Ceres, NY. More white tale deer than people in Potter County. My beloved Father was a Pennsylvania State Trooper for Potter County. <br>My graduation class 1983 was 50 students. Market Baskett grocery store. 3 bars. Everyone knew everyone else. BINGO fire dept. Saturday night. Gossip center there. But I am happy we lived there. I graduated National Honor Society. Pennsylvania is a wonderful place.
