Makima is not a country mouse nor a city mouse, she is the cat playing with her victim.

I adore how many people are covering Reze and her significance. She’s my favorite character from the manga, and the film went above and beyond my expectations. Thanks for putting out such a compelling video on her and her massive impact on the narrative.

I actually thought about it slightly, and i think its Denji who is a city mouse, he only craves superficial desires (food, women, entertainment) but when he gets them he is left disapointed or empty inside. He does things purely for self gratification. He also is completly fine living by and being right next to Makima who in this interpretation is the dange, the cat who toys with her victims. Its Reze who is a country mouse who craves the confort and love and wants to share them with Denji, and its following Denji the city mouse that gets Reze killed as the cat brings her claws down. It takes a long while and losing everything for Denji to realise what he actually wants, what he feels, what his heart desires.

Absolutely agree with your interpretation. &nbsp;Reze is the cheese, or the bait. &nbsp; The imagery of the spider and the butterfly made us think that Denji was falling into a trap, but with the context in mind we now know that Denji was the one who spun a web with his chains at the end of the fight to trap Reze. &nbsp; This is a lovely arc of the story and it took some rewatching to pick up all the points from Fujimoto.

what makima felt was the chainsaw heart&apos;s beat, what reze chased for was the soul behind it

Denji is a country mouse who becomes a town mouse. Reze is a town mouse who wishes to be a country mouse who is meant to be cannibalize. Both Reze and Denji are bait for each other(Denji is further used as bait during interactions assassins).<br>Chainsaw man part 2 desperately needs Reze.
