  This is one of those passages that becomes much clearer when we stop trying to fill in the gaps with speculation. The connection between circumcision, the Abrahamic covenant, and Moses’ mission shows that God’s calling does not place Moses above God’s commands. Before Moses could confront Pharaoh about obedience, he first had to stand under the authority of the God he represented.

  “But Moses’ wife took a flint knife, cut off her son’s foreskin and touched Moses’ feet with it. ‘Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me,’ she said.” — Exodus 4:25<br><br>This difficult passage does not tell us that God was randomly trying to kill Moses. Exodus 4:24–26 shows a serious confrontation over circumcision, the covenant sign God had commanded Abraham’s descendants to observe. Moses was returning to Egypt as God’s chosen messenger, yet something concerning his covenant obedience had been left unresolved. The exact details are not fully explained, so we should avoid claiming more than Scripture says.<br>God’s calling does not make obedience optional; He calls us to take His covenant and His commands seriously. <br>God bless us all 🤍🙏🤍

  This passage takes on a different depth when we let the text speak for itself rather than trying to explain every detail through speculation. The connection between circumcision, God’s covenant with Abraham, and Moses’ calling highlights a powerful principle: being chosen by God never places someone beyond His authority. Before Moses could go to Pharaoh and call him to obey God, Moses himself had to first come into obedience. The man chosen to speak for God had to understand that he was still accountable to the God he represented.
