My grandmother was 19 at the time and she lived in Pennsylvania and listened to the broadcast. She said it was good but the story the week before better 😂 She said no one she knew believed it was real because she only knew smart people. My Grammy was the queen of shade 🤣

I must have been 8 or 9 when, on the anniversary of this broadcast, a radio station replayed the entire story. My parents, little sister, and I got in comfy pajamas, set out sleeping bags in the living room, turned off all the lights, and listened to this broadcast by candlelight. My parents did a good job of making sure my kid brain understood that it was just a spooky Halloween story, but what a cool piece of history, and an amazing memory I’ll never forget. Thanks for telling this story!

I feel like Orson is a good example of what support can do to a kid. Encourage their endeavors and they'll work even harder. I dont think that means he was spoiled. He just had the support that most of us don't get

My dad’s favorite satellite radio station… plays old radio shows. So I actually really like them.

What makes me giggle is we’re moving more and more to podcasts, which we can listen to more easily anywhere and while doing other tasks, like cooking or crafts, etc. We’re moving back to what’s essentially radio shows.

I studied this broadcast in both my high school media production class and my college communications degree. I love this story. It goes to show how much a well told story can effect us.

I cannot tell you how just seeing that you posted a video somehow brings a wave of relief. Thank you for being the only place my brain can stay quiet and focused on one thing 🥺🖤

When my grandfather was still alive he told me about this broadcast. He lived in rural Pennsylvania with his Czech/Slovak immigrant family. He said it was terrifying. He was 7 or 8 when this was broadcast. He’s the reason I’m into scary stories. Honestly, now that I’m an adult and can grasp the concept, this sounds HORRIFYING to listen to. But I LOVE this story. Thank you so much for bringing back such a good memory
