  i think there’s a hidden element to this video that isn’t superrrrr delved deep into that i want to mention. fire emblem has harboured a safe (ish) space for women and lgbtq players for many years now. while the kaga era wasn’t super progressive, the introduction of female lords like lyn, celica and micaiah along same sex endings such as lyn and florina, raven and lucius and ike and soren since its early life has cultivated a more diverse community of players that intsys appeals to. so, theoretically, the introduction of a majority female feh oc atmosphere should be seen as a win.<br><br>but its not. because we ignore the elephant in the room that is the male player base fire emblem appeals to, as the stereotype goes that more men play video games. so feh, the gacha game that seeks to milk as much money as possible through character banners and complex builds are often targeting a male audience through the sexuality of the female characters they promote, rather than promoting them to a female audience as representation. lyn, lucina and camilla being the three most promoted characters is no coincidence when you realise they are the three women current male fans are most attracted to. you can even see the divide in their damaged arts as female characters are often portrayed demurely covering up their torn clothes with little to no damage on their bodies. <br><br>so if the promotion is heavily based on the sexuality of the cast, it reveals why men are “done dirty” as fans put it. despite the safe space fire emblem has cultivated, the female and lgbtq players are not a priority, and therefore male feh ocs are underrepresented, often in unattractive clothing and erased early as to not ruin the allure of the female harem the theoretically ‘male’ player will participate in. <br><br>this is the problematic thinking that eik’s presence revealed and reversed (hopefully) with his popularity. there exists a large number of fans who will grow exhausted with the sexualisation of the female cast. while yes, there is much enjoyment to be had out of seeing our favourite heroines in fashionable outfits, the element of sexuality and romance is practically non existent outside of summer alts. eik serves as a reminder that people want to see attractive male characters, even straight men.<br><br>tl:dr: give the girls and gays men with big boobs to throw their life savings at if ur going to be a greedy gacha game.
