I actually have a funny story about Bomfunk MC. I am not a Finn myself, so had no idea they were Finns. At the time I assumed they were Americans. Few years after this song was released, I was flying out of Finland following a visit and I was sitting next to a blonde guy with rasta hair. Very much like the kid in the video, just older. After some small talk, I mentioned to him he reminded me of the kid from the music video. It turned out it was actually him 😅🙈 that’s how I found out that Freestyler is a Finnish song.

Both Sandstorm and Freestyler are still often on the playlist on many different sports events, I hear both of those all the time when watching international hockey for example.

The interesting thing is that Sandstorm and Freestyler were released the same year.

There are many other Finnish groups that have gained some international success: Nightwish, Apocalyptica, Stratovarius, Lordi, The 69 Eyes, Waldo's People, Children of Bodom, Sonata Arctica, Käärijä, etc.

I became friends with a finnish girl in London in 1994-1995  (I'm swedish) We are still close friends and I'm the  godmother of her oldest child. And everytime I hear the rasmus and freestyler I think of her ❤ and the father of her kids is from Liverpool 😂

Michael Monroe, the lead vocalist of Hanoi rocks turned just 62 in June. He is well known for his love for animals, especially cats  You can listen to him live this autumn: is touring Finland August 2nd through November 2nd..

Hanoi Rocks were also very influential, one of the original Glam Rock bands inspired bands like Gun's 'n Roses. They are mentioned in many G'nR thank you credits on many albums.

Really surprised Nithwish wasn't on this list, perhaps coming in their metal group video
