I was told that Minutes to Midnight by Linkin Park was going to be a different kind of affair from Hybrid Theory or Meteora. Some love it and praise the new direction for the band. Others may say they lost the plot. I think at the end of the day, I'm in the camp of the former. This album isn't as aggressive and definitely less layered in terms of production. Instead, it's LP refining their sound and taking it to different places while still being unapologetically themselves. I got the feeling they were betting on themselves on this project, and with that came more depth out of the lyrics and forays into other genres (ie, punk). Oh, and I can unequivocally say that I no longer "hate" Mike Shinoda.

Tell me what you think!

That scream is no fluke. He pulled it off live, over and over and over again.

28:20 During their recent concert in Brazil, people brought transformers toys and put it up during What I've Done and Mike even laughed when he saw it, it was pretty cute

So Jerry, A Thousand Suns to me is LPs masterpiece that goes over the concept of nuclear war and tyranny. With that album, I urge you to take it slower than you usually would with any other album to digest the concepts and historical references.

P.S: Of course, please enjoy A Thousand Suns.

I don’t mind that there’s people that only like their first 2 albums, but the way they try and discourage others to not listen past those will always irritate me 😂. So glad you kept on your LP journey, the next album is probably my personal favourite (I’ll be honest it changes every other week), and it also has Mike’s favourite song of theirs on it too. Hope to see your reaction to it soon.

"Bleed It Out" is a song about writing lyrics. You can actually listen to a demo of it that they released, where the rap verse is kind of generic, and the chorus is just "Da na na" gibberish. Basically, Mike kept writing it over and over, and he'd take the lyrics to the rest of the band, and they'd say it wasn't good, so he'd have to throw it away and start over. So he ended up writing about that. "Now here we go for the hundredth time..."

If a mental breakdown was a song it would definitely be Given Up.

Trivia: The song what I've done was the last song recorded for this album, the idea was to sum up the entire album of minutes to midnight and how the band has changed, so in the song the first lyric in the first verse are "in this farewell, there is no blood, there's no alibi" so basically its LP saying goodbye to how they used to be and thats why their music sounds different with this album.
