To fully appreciate Rap God, you have to understand that it is a history lesson, an instruction manual, and a love letter to hip-hop in one song.

When I woke up this morning, I didn’t have the lead singer of Cattle Decapitation breaking down Eminem bars on my bingo card.

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFDnPLgc4Qs&t=1440">24:00</a> lmao "midgard" is also Norse mythology, it's what they called Earth. What Travis is thinking of is "Middle-Earth" from LOTR

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFDnPLgc4Qs&t=924">15:24</a> Eminem isnt just rhyming words. He's rhyming entire sentences.<br>"Truthful the blueprints"<br>"Youthful exuberance"<br>"Root for a nuisance"<br>"Shoot for the moon since"<br><br>People notice his speed first, his clarity second, then the rhyming schemes kick in....then you realize how good the bars he's dropping actually are. That's a full arsenal he keeps in his back pocket, and it's why he's the best.

Max Headroom is a character that predates that famous TV hacking incident. He originated in Britain as an early version of a virtual presenter/host/pitchman, except he wasn't actually digital; he was played by actor Matt Frewer under layers of prosthetic make-up and video effects to give him his unique look and sound. A TV movie set in a corporate media-dominated, dystopian, cyberpunk future gave him an origin story. He was brought over to North America to play a similar host/pitchman role, and ABC did a fairly short-lived TV series about him that was adapted from the British TV movie. The people who overrode that TV station to broadcast that creepy, obscure video were stealing his image and presentation style to mess with everybody.

The beginning of Rap God ("Look, I was gonna go easy on you not to hurt your feelings...") is from an audiobook recording of a Captain America comic :)

He did this live 2022. All I can say is that he does not need air. Air needs him

Can't remember where I heard this exactly but in the movie "8 Mile" where he stars he had a rap battle with his co actor Anthony Mackie. They did multiple tries but it wouldn't go the way they wanted it. Then they took a break and Eminem and Anthony started talking off-set. They talked about everything like how they grew up. Then, when they were going to redo the take, Eminem used lines not about the person Anthony was playing but from the conversation they had... So Anthony's private life. And he nailed it. (the part about him being in a private school)<br>Eminem just rocks!
