When they use their credit card to buy the car do you charge them the card fee, the bank charges you?

"I am not going out and buy one of these brand new recalls" That sums it up perfectly.

I just bought a new car and decided to keep my “older (2017)”car just because it’s worth more to me than what they tried to offer me on the trade in.

I'm keeping my current car until the wheels fall off or the engine grenades.

You may be a used car dealer, but you’re NOT dumb.

You’re a smart cookie, Brandon.

Mobile mechanic here, went to perform a PPI at a FORD dealership...the service department manager tried to hire me while i was there. I laughed and told the guy they couldn't afford me.

I was a mechanic for 43 years. But NOT at a dealer or even an independent shop. I worked for a large government fleet department. We were paid by the hour, had all our tools and even clothes supplied, when we needed more training to keep up with the newer TRASH technology, they not only paid for the training, but they paid for the time we spent going to training. The benefits were unreal. The medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, retirement plans, vacation time, sick leave time, etc. cost more than our pay. We were understaffed, so we had to stay busy. I started at age 18, as basically a shop rat, and worked my way up. We worked on everything. Cars, light trucks, heavy trucks, including class 8 diesel, equipment, backhoes, graders, street sweepers, even small landscape equipment like lawn mowers, chain saws, and weed whackers. What I hated most was the computerized garbage they put on later model cars. In 1977, cars were so easy to work on, and far more reliable than the modern JUNK. I'm also a lifelong classic car enthusiast, hot rodder, and amateur drag racer. I'm the mechanical type. I DESPISE computers.

Brandon what you have described is a market that will not work for average people. You have the rich that can lease a car for three years and turn it in. You have the poor that cannot afford to buy new cars. Then you have people that have kept their old Honda's and Toyota's that have 200 - 300 thousand miles that are still running. They have no desire to buy these new cars were the transmission goes out at 50K and cannot be replaced under warranty. Its a cycle that will have to be fixed but who will fix it. It will not be the manufactures or the car dealers.

$50k for just some wheels, that will probably be unfixable and unreliable is insane to me personally. I'm keeping my reliable 200k plus mile vehicles as long as I can

“Brand new recalls” is the best summary of the post covid industry

Not shedding a tear. Car dealers gouged the public on price for years. Pricing out many people. Car flippers and private equity knew what this would do to the market years later. Here we are years later.
