The story of the abandoned ship is based on the Marie Celeste with the food and drinks abandoned mid meal. There were even things like a half finished game of chess and partially packed luggage.

This was a lot of fun. I thought you handled it well despite a few jump scares. I saw this when I was 8 or 9 and it freaked me out...Fun Fact: The crew and actors had to walk and carry equipment up and down those stairs every day for shooting scenes. I think it was over 300 stairs.

Yesss!... Happy Halloween Sha! Thanks for posting a reaction to this - loved it! It is a bit of a slow-burn film, like Halloween and The Thing, but I just love the atmosphere (pun intended! 😂) The main ghost pirate was actually Rob Botin who did the effects on this and lots of other John Carpenter films. You should check out another of his spooky films - Prince of Darkness - pretty creepy, really think you'd like it. Assault on Precinct 13 was Carpenter's first film - not a horror, but a base-under-siege film, but that was great and showed what was to come from him... wishing you all the best from the UK and hope you're feeling better soon Sha! 😍🤗

Forgot the phones, been years since last viewing. Wonder if those scenes in 976-EVIL were inspired by that.

Rarely is a remake better then the original, and the remake of this is no exception, the original is and always will be way better, but the remake does gave a little more detail to the back story
