Pro Tip - if you plan on playing in a forever world, think of it as a TV show, separate households or generations by season, then give yourself a few goals to achieve each season. Goaled gameplay helps me keep in mind what I want to be working towards instead of getting side tracked, and breaking a long story into seasons lets me segment it all in my head and re-orient myself to new stories if the old one gets tedious.

My biggest tip is to make sure you're committed to the CC you use, I got sick of half of my CC, forgot that townies I redesigned were wearing them and now a good chunk of my forever world is naked. Gotta go back and refresh them now!

You've inspired me to make my own forever world a couple months ago, and I'm loving it so far. For my own rules, I used base game only, with no DLCs and no mods. I merged oasis springs' premade households into willow creek and moved all lots there too (excluding "doubles" like oasis' gym, museum and park since I didn't need community lots with the same purpose). The goal was to gradually add packs and new lot types as I run out of things to do in the base game, which encouraged me to try new things.

For the sims themselves, my probject is to make the premade households gradually join one single big family tree through arranged marriages. It started with Alexander Goth and Olivia Spencer-Kim-Lewis becoming childhood sweethearts, and I've watched them grow together as friends and into adulthood (and oh my god, what toxic parents' the Spencer Kim-Lewis are. Alice woke up almost everyday with the Want of being mean to a child, and the only child in her relationships panel was her own daughter. Eric only wanted to fatten up and didn't step up as a father until his mom moved out of the household. Bless grandpa Dennis for being the only one truly nice to Olivia. This was all automated btw, I kept my autonomy maxed the whole time).

Then I switched over to Cassandra, being promised to the only other teen available: evil Malcolm Landgraab. Their relationship was a mess, with Cassandra being always in tears for how Malcolm treated her, and Malcolm being furious at the world, driven by paranoia that he'd be cheated on. On top of that. a strange rivarly rose all on its own between their respective mothers, with Bella being a secret agent and Nancy being a criminal. I played it off as the two of them being archnemesis, each trying to get rid of the other without letting the rest of the family become aware of their respective careers. There's been fights, and even a burglar coming to the Goths' house that Bella fought all on her own. Guess who showed up on the crime scene after the burglar ran away, completely uninvited? Nancy, of course. I think she wanted to gloat over Bella's demise. Too bad that didn't work as she'd planned out!

In the meantime, Mortimer got a writer's block and wished to change career for a while. The randomizer picked Criminal, so I played it off that he wanted to infiltrate the criminal side of town for inspiration for a new novel. He was a horrible thug, and lasted for two tiers before he wished to go back to his peaceful days as an author.

It's been a couple months now and both Alexander/Olivia and Cassandra/Malcolm have had their kids... both twin births somehow, I didn't even have any trait or perk to increase the odds. My next project is finding Jhonny Zest his own partner to contribute to this massive "Merge of Legacies". I'm just letting him befriend all the other pre-made bachelors and bachelorettes and see who he'll flirt with first. Who knows who the lucky one will be.

This was an essay but believe it or not I've left out a lot of stuff! I wish I had the courage and time to make videos like you did, but I don't. I just wanted to share and thank you so much for making this game fun for me again!

Honestly, my best tip is: allow spontaneity! If your sim get an alien thought bubble, maybe turn that into them being obsessed with aliens (totally not something I did 👀). If they gets a baby bottle pop up, let them have a baby or maybe they realize they don't want a baby but their partner does! You can create angst out of thin air.

Or maybe if you don't know what career you want your sim to have, jump between careers! Start and quit multiple jobs, turn that into a story for them. Or maybe they meet someone and join that sim's career to be closer to them!

Make random, spontaneous decisions!

Allow your sim to show you what they want to do, or make it up! Spontaneity has changed how I play my forever world, don't overly plan things if that stresses you out. I plan a little and then let the sims change that storyline along the way. ✨️

Best tips if you actually want a continues story for your gamplay:
1. Instead of being attached to a "save" get attached to "the world" you are creating - the saves WILL break, unless you can transfer your sims and houses and re set them in a fresh save you have no chance of it lasting. Have a "forever story" not a "forever save".
+ Re setting your files from time to time speeds up your game and gives you an opportunity to re think you mods set up.
2. Have a goal, or at least a detection for your world, think of an overreaching story ark for all the households, other ways you are going to get in to a "now what?" boredom loop. I personalty do the extended "decades" challenge - getting through history is fun for me.
Chaining multi generational challenges works well to, and you don't need as much cc for that.

The biggest tip I can give someone, as someone who has spent the last year playing around with my own save and building most of my own lots, don't overload your save with residential lots. Try to balance each world out with residentials and community lots. Give your sims something to do, and mods help out A LOT, like the Suite Life mod, WW strip club mod, and etc. Also take advantage of the live in business feature from Business and Hobbies Expansion.

I turned the neighborhood where the Goths live in Willow Creek in a posh French Quarter inspired area full of community lots. I build a Parisian style Hotel compatible with the Suite Life mod on the Umbrage Manor lot, across from it I built a Small business Spa and Gym, a fancy French restaurant on Ophelia Villa, and on the lot next to that one I built a more fancy nightclub.

I did something similar with Oasis Springs. I turned the area the Calientes live in into an area of more posh community lots. There's so much more to do in those two worlds now other than visiting someone's house or going to the park.

For Immersion, mods like SimSpawnOverhaul are essential. I locked worlds together into sort of Regions that simulate them being driving distance from each other and only sims that live in these regions will appear in them.

Example: If a sim travels from Willow Creek to Brindleton a driving icon shows up, but if a Willow Creek Sim wants to go to Oasis Springs, Windenburg, Sulani etc.. they get charged for a plane ticket and a plane icon appears.

Region 1
Willow Creek
Newcrest
SanMyshuno
Brindleton Bay
Copperdale
Forgotten Hollow
Moonwood Mill

Region 2
Oasis Springs
Del Sol Valley
Strangerville
San Sequoia
Chestnut Ridge
Evergreen Harbor

Region 3
Windenburg
Henford on Bagley
Nordhaven
Ravenwood
Britechester

Region 4(Mostly full of Hotels, Resorts and nightclubs) Sims that appear here are locked into their respective worlds using SimSpawn overhaul but exist in "Not currently in World category".
Sulani
Mt. Komorebi
Tartosa
Ciudad Enemorada
Tomarang

I'm still surprised that everyone doesn't play in a forever world, It's the only I've played the Sims since Sims 2. Until I saw you start this world, I never knew people created new saves. I think encountering Bob Pancakes or Don Lothario more than once would drive me crazy!

I play long lifespan & end up with massive families & famiky trees. I know I can't play with every single one, so I pick one sim & focus on them & let my other sims just do whatever 😂 that way sims I have no interest in end up having hilariously random lives whenever I do come across them

Never leave a family when an elder (especially your main household founder) when the sim is at the end of her life. Mine ended up dying and when I found her the game called her homeless. I got her back using MCCC. But, she was filthy! Like she had just crawled out of her grave. Scary. And hilarious!
