Not gonna lie I like Jon’s POV and all but wildings was not a subject I’ve completely obsessed over yet, but after this stream yall have peaked my interest in re reading some chapters and looking a little deeper into them 😊 This is why your my favorite ASOIAF streamer. Every video I learn new things about something I completely glazed over without even realizing it.

Nope there is an Arkenstone in the books. The Heart of the Mountain. Thorin looks for it obsessively. But Bilbo finds it and gives it to Thranduil, to ransom for the Elves share of the treasure to end their siege. Bilbo had been promised a 14th share of the treasure so he figured he could choose the Stone.

Streams like these are the reason I ride or die for this channel. Collaborative, upbeat, exhaustively researched, and encyclopaedically deep — and it’s always fresh tracks in the snow. Who else is doing a Wildling Tribe and Vibe stream? Who else could make it funny?

Did you know that Beowulf does mean bear but not in the way most people think. It actually translates to bee's wolf or bee eater, which is a bear. Having said that, it has lots of translations, too

I like the idea of the free-folk entering the realm eventually starts mixing with the northerners like the Thenns and Karstarks.

Pretty incredible find!

Also, there is a particular shade of purple the Phoenicians used called "Tyrian purple,"a specific shade of reddish violet.

Further symbolism of a red Lannister/amethyst Targaryen mixed heritage with Tyrion.

Are the Brackens maybe a little salty!? They may be a remnant of the Hoare invasion and an ancient reason for the enmity between the Brackens and Blackwood! Salt invading freshwater makes it brackish!

What if the wildlings were left on the "wrong" side of the Wall because they were thralls?? thralldom is an element of First Man culture. that would give a reason why these people could be forced to stay as sacrifices, if they were more or less owned by the people who got to stay on the safe side. that also makes their commitment to their personal freedom all the more powerful, if there's this mostly forgotten genetic memory of a time when they were under the control of someone more powerful, and it put them in the ultimate peril

The Wildlngs weren't forced to live beyond The Wall when it was built. They were already living there and chose to remain when The Wall was being built. At that time, everyone knew The Wall was being built against a possible return of The Others, not to bar the passage of persons. However, over time as the memory and fear of The Others faded to legend the purpose became altered also. The Wildlings became the enemy, The Wall's intent to bar their passage and The Watch's job to keep The Wildings at bay.
