I had a friend that only wore Opium. Everything I smell it in passing I think of her! She was so special in my life!

I remember in the early 80s being in a beautiful restaurant in Chicago and every woman there was wearing Opium. It was a potent fragrance that you either loved or hated.

I remember my mother receiving a large bottle of opium when it debuted. I was a little boy but I remember asking her “What is that?” when I saw it in her bathroom on the counter. She said “Opium” but I didn’t know what the word really meant.

He smoked 150 cigarettes a day?! How was that possible? What did his breath smell like like? We poor people usually envy the affluent their rich lifestyles and wealth. Yet, time and time again, history has shown how unhappy and unfulfilled lives they live. YSL's acquisitions of art, valued at almost half a billion dollars when he died, showed how he tried to fill a huge hole in his life with material objects. What a sad way to have lived. But, rich people to this very day have not learned their lesson.

”…the kind of sustained methodical bullying that teaches a child two things simultaneously: that the world is hostile, and that the interior life of the imagination is the only safe country.”

Well said! I think that is true for many people who pursue artistic endeavors. Often misunderstood, these are the sensitive, creative souls for whom I will always have a soft spot.

Lamentable that the new owners of the brand dropped "Yves" from the name of the brand

I don't know why you are using images of other YSL perfumes if the video is about Opium 🙄...Such eye soar in otherwise very nice video.

I learned about designer clothes was my 1st Suit. YSL back in 1976 or 77. My mom bought me and my brother a 3 piece blue/grey suit with off white pin stripes. We went Hogates Seafood in Washington DC. Also the first time I had blue cheese dressing. YSL ❤🤞🏾✊🏾
