  Simple math is: You're city driver or long distance driver on the highway or terrain? This is main reason for choosing which car you gonna buy.

  I live in a hilly region in Europe. A friend bought a Prius hybrid. Within 6 months he sold the hybrid and bought a diesel car. The reason, the hybrid was using 1.5 times more fuel than his original diesel. <br>In wide open flat regions the hybrid may be much better, but in hilly or mountainous regions that is not the case. Buyer beware.

  With my hybrid I notice that battery capacity/ range is significantly reduced in cold weather. So a full charge drains faster in winter.

  I bought a used 2013 Prius V when it was a year old. &nbsp;Today, I have 174,000 miles on it. &nbsp;The only problem I ever had was that the electric water pump needed replacement at 172K. &nbsp;My brake pads are still original! &nbsp;It&apos;s at 7mm, so it still has a lot of life in them. &nbsp;I&apos;m astonished at how well the regenerative braking works.

  My 2010 hybrid Honda Insight just hit over 200,000 miles. I have never had a car before this one that did not have to have a non-maintenance item replaced -- incredible reliability. I only had to replace the brakes once. It was 4 yrs old with almost 40,000 miles on it when I got it for $12,000. What a great deal!

  $4.00 per gallon.<br>In Australia 🇦🇺 petrol was $1.85 per litre before the fuel crises.
