  I think we are getting sick and tired of dreary Minimalism. &nbsp;There is great comfort in having beautiful things in your private environment. I have no respect for videos that want us all to make our homes look like a dentist&apos;s waiting room.

  English Lady here, yes, with a capital L. &nbsp;This is utter nonsense! &nbsp;Anybody who has ever visited an English country house would tell you that they hold centuries worth of familial momories. &nbsp;The very idea of removing our collection of fourteenth century Chinese porcelain in order to ease clutter is ludicrous! &nbsp;Our Orangery is filled from floor to ceiling ( forty feet) with colourful plants from all over the world, including a banana tree. &nbsp;We have a blue room, green room, yellow room and Wedgwood room... there is colour everywhere. &nbsp;Some of our cushions are over three hundred years old. &nbsp;They were made from swan feathers - not something one would even consider today! &nbsp;The list is endless... this is pure, modern twaddle.

  As we get older, imo we need to start &nbsp;removing things. Not because of looks but because it becomes harder and harder to keep the house clean and organized.

  . Clean and uncluttered is always good. &nbsp; But bare is a style. I love the style I grew up with; homey.

  I do not necessarily agree with every suggestion here, but for me, at age 80, I have decluttered most (not all), but most everything. I like the peacefulness that it brings to my life. It&apos;s not what others think, it&apos;s all about how calm and peaceful I feel. I function better and appreciate a calm and organized environment period! I am blessed to have a small, cute little home and I enjoy being here. 🌼 I wish the comments were not so critical. I have learned to take what works for me and leave the rest ~ or just move on.

  I&apos;m a Woman who is a Senior and I decluttered months ago, pitched unwanted/ unneeded clothes. I took down pictures and rearranged the ones I had hanging up. I broke up my religious Wall hangings, put them in different areas in my Home. I washed down my ceiling in my living room, bathroom and bedroom. Just wiping down the ceiling and walls made my Home look like a Totally different Home.
