  I’m not american, but being a Brazilian dude with Japanese descent and living in a region with a pretty big Japanese population, baseball ended up in my life recently, despite the fact that for most part of my life I didn’t care about it a lot. 2024 was the first year I decided to really sit down and watch an MLB season, and i don’t why, but the Mets ended up becoming my favorite team in the league, I have a lot of fun watching them play. I really hope they continue to play well, because I already became used to cheer for them lol. LGM!

  When the Mets lost in the NLCS,  I stood there for a while, paced around a bit, then thought "We weren't even supposed to be here" and smiled. What a funny, chaotic, exciting, frustrating, beautiful roller coaster.

  Tyrone Taylor. Say his name. Got us the first win of the regular season, and without his double that knocked out schwellenbach, we don't win the last game of the season. Not to mention being one of our most solid citizens in between.

  This might as well be a Hollywood movie. A team that was struggling rallied to the playoffs through the power of friendship, a lovable mascot, and their own theme song.

  I was raised as a diehard mets fan, but took a break from baseball and didn’t care from 2017-2023. I’m also a girl, so take that as you will. Teenage years were busy man. This year, I decided it was a good time to get back to one of my favorite hobbies, watching baseball. Coming back into the scene as a mets fan in 2024 has been insane. It feels like I jumped on the train at the last second before it zipped off. Thank you for making this very entertaining video, people like you are the reason im finding myself so happy getting back into baseball.

  That last quote really resonates with me because of something that happened before the season began. In 2023, the Mets season from hell managed to hurt me in unique ways. On July 1 2023, my aunt died. She was a diehard Mets fan, someone who truly loved the team since being a kid during the Miracle of &apos;69. When I would visit her during baseball season, it was very common to have the Mets game of the day on TV, and the last time I saw her before the illness began to take hold, was my birthday, we were talking about the potential the 2022 Mets could have done. It probably won&apos;t surprise you to know that I didn&apos;t bother watching most of the season afterwards. It was pretty painful.<br><br>If that was a painful experience, it gets worse. Five months later, her husband, &amp; my Uncle died of a separate illness. He was also a diehard Mets fan, and he was just as passionate as his wife. They were essentially childhood sweethearts, his mother was a Sunday School teacher at the same church my grandfather was, he became close with my Aunts, Uncles, and my Dad (Although both of them were years older than my father). I honestly believe that after losing his wife, his will to fight on just vanished. I&apos;ll never know his thoughts during those last few months, but I doubt the 2023 Mets made life easier.<br><br>Being as they had no kids, pretty much everything they had built over their lives had to be divided and sold. I got a cut of their inheritance, with equal shares going out to all their nieces and nephews, and my Dad and I both went to clean out the house before it could be sold, and included in there was some Mets stuff that had been destroyed in storage by the passage of time. I ended up finding a clay replica of Shea Stadium, and decided to keep it as a token of remembrance. In fact, one of the last days we went to clear out everything, happened to be on the first day of the year, where they got swept by the Brewers and Rhys Hoskins got at it with Jeff McNeil (which I&apos;m surprised wasn&apos;t talked about here). I tried to stay hopeful, and then May came, and I think around the Jorge Lopez incident (I can&apos;t remember exactly when), I said aloud that the only good thing about their deaths was that they didn&apos;t have to watch this Mets team flounder around.<br><br>Then June came, and it began to happen. The private meeting, Vientos going off, Iglesias, OMG, Grimace, the winning. I was just as excited as any other Mets fan was, and just as stupefied. I couldn&apos;t believe it was happening. Was something supernatural happening? Was someone I knew guiding this team from above? I couldn&apos;t tell you an answer, just that I had two recently deceased relatives that would gladly do what it takes to guide the Mets to success. The series against Atlanta in July was the moment I believed it was destiny. Then Senga got hurt again, and I immediately began to panic internally. Was this team relapsing into it&apos;s old ways? Thankfully despite some bleeding in August, September came, and I saw all those wins mentioned in the video, and was feeling good, and then came the final series against Atlanta, and I ending feeling genuine fear after that first game. Then the hurricane came, and it was going to come down to one doubleheader on Monday.<br><br>I remember that first game like it was yesterday, and honestly feel that the Braves would have won had they not pulled Shwellenbach when they did. If they had let him face a couple extra batters in the eighth, or just not have him go back out on there at all, the pitching for the Braves would have likely not been scrambled enough for the Mets to get all those runs. I thought it was sure to happen. Then Edwin lost his stuff, and I panicked again. I was scared they didn&apos;t have the pitching for Game 2 that day to hold off Atlanta. And then Lindor came up. Needless to say I screamed when I saw that happen, and again when Edwin sealed the deal. I distinctly remember jumping for joy, falling on my bed, and looking up. If there was a god and heaven, then I knew who up there would have been celebrating as hard as me. And that they would have been so happy to see it if they were still here. Game 2 was a victory lap. I didn&apos;t end up watching that as I had other things that day. <br><br>So the Mets beat the Brewers in Game 1. Also Jesse Winker clearly hadn&apos;t let go of his beef with the Brewers. Thankfully nothing too stupid came out of it. Game 2, was crushing but I believed in Game 3. Offense fails to show up, down 2-0, here comes Pete. I should mention that throughout the season, my parents (who I was watching this game with), had been very critical of Pete&apos;s performance and how he wasn&apos;t showing up like he needed to. When I saw him up, I was mentally all ready to say goodbye. Then the home run came. I ended up jumping off my cough and doing a victory lap around the living room like I was running the bases. I then went and gave my Dad a huge hug. He had lost two huge Mets fans in his sister and brother-in-law. Now one year later, a moment that rewrote a player&apos;s legacy happened to our team. And if that wasn&apos;t enough, it was his birthday. Let&apos;s just say the rest of that night was special. And the series against the Phillies. I have a longstanding grudge against the Phillies back to the days of Rollins and Howard. Not just for being a division foe, but for at that point stealing the success that could been ours, that SHOULD&apos;VE been ours. And the first head-to-head playoff matchup, needless to say, watching that series and those games was cathartic, and kind of magical.<br><br>I thought they could have beaten the Dodgers, I really did. Beating the team that broke New York&apos;s heart, the team that is pretty much the reason the Mets franchise even exists, the team that broke my grandfather&apos;s heart many decades ago before he even had a wife and kids. That&apos;s the part of it that stung. Not losing to a vastly better team with some of the greatest players in the history of baseball, but the fact I thought they could have beat them. At least they fought, and made sure it wouldn&apos;t be won on our soil, but it didn&apos;t matter. Still was a better outcome than the Yankees winning.<br><br>So that was a long rambling comment that most viewers will probably never fully read. But that is how the 2024 New York Mets affected me. Someone who had been waiting to feel this way about this team for a long time. It&apos;s a season that means more because of just what I had to go through the year before. This is a season that will always be special, even I see a hundred more Mets seasons, this one will never be replicated for me. How could it? All I can say is that despite all of this, I still miss them. Aunt Lisa, Uncle Craig, I still love you. And thanks for everything you did, in this world, and any other.

  Another masterclass in season recaps by Mike and the boys at SRS. Very good watch, and incredible detail into a season. Makes me feel like I had been there to watch the year from start to finish. Keep up the good work

  This is a masterpiece of a video to highlight the absolute insanity that this season was as a Mets fan. We rarely get to have fun watching this franchise play but man this past season was so damn fun. Truly had me feeling like a little kid again watching their games and gave me so many awesome memories.

  I see the 2024 season similar to the 1984 season, both Mets teams fell short, but you can see the potential and the greatness to come.
