  The Hebrew "yom" can mean an age. That is true. But when it is accompanied by the sentence "There was an evening and a morning," that clearly indicates a 24-hour period.

  This presentation only shows me more supposition about God. Who He is, What He thought, Why He did it. I think to write what God was thinking and doing is surmising that which is not known.  Your conclusion is spoken as fact when it is not always so. God is gracious to the Proto-Jew because to destroy that line would destroy His rescue plan with Jesus. It’s more practical than filled with love.

  Just because Gen. 1-11 may use symbolic numbers, even deeper meanings in the text that are far reaching or typological, that doesn’t negate the fact that it's literal truth and factually inerrant.  Both can be true at the same time.  The genealogys are literally true, and could also have a second layer message.  It doesn't have to be either or, but rather both and.

  It's interesting that the rainbow apparently didn't exist before the events of Noah's flood. More reason to believe that the design of the atmospheric structure above earth before the flood was most probably , totally different. That is... the waters suspended in the firmament above , prevented the sun from interacting with the air to make formation of a rainbow possible , until those waters were released in the deluge.

  thank you so very much for sharing. my biggest take aways were your summaries that each and every chapter ended with god&apos;s mercy and grace after each transgression of man. it did not even hit me that the first 11 books were of a specially different genre. it also hit me that like we have thorough cleaning when our homes get dirtier than usual, god left 8 people from being destroyed in the worldwide flood because he would not be fulfilling his prophecy and promise of a redeemer as a seed of eve if he had to do another creation of man from scratch. who else missed that point?<br><br>please consider that although yom may mean earth day or age, the natural sense in genesis is that the use of &quot;yom&quot; is that of an earth day. vegetation created on the third day cannot survive ages without sun which was only created on the fourth day if the days were of ages rather than earth day. it was not ages after adam and eve were created that they got their sabbath. adam&apos;s age at time of death was recorded as at age 930. that could not have mean eons of years ^_^. <br><br>my comment: when you explained &quot;yom&quot; can mean earth day or age, please consider that in genesis, &quot;yom&quot; can only be &quot;earth day&quot; as the natural sense: (1) vegetation created on the 3rd day cannot survive ages without the sun created on the 4th day if &quot;yom&quot; meant ages, eons of time; (2) as adam was recorded as having only lived 930 days. the days between his creation and his first sabbath could only be an earth day, not &quot;old earth day&quot; which refers to &quot;yom&quot; as an epoch, age, or eon. these two verses would have demolished that theory if everyone will just be engaged in the solid written word of god more than in human theories that still await validation. it would have saved money and time for more productive use which god expects all of these for us to be good stewards of.

  The original Hebrew had a completely different beginning. God created from himself creation, and then creation re-creating, and expanding, and still is it was other gods and other beings because of the Adam and Eve story talks about plural gods we us our image and these guys were called the Elohim that also means plural gods first Corinthians eight verse five there are many gods the god of this world went to Jesus and offered him the kingdoms of this world not his father in Jesus, spoke against the Bible God, his entire ministry not an eye for an eye turn the other cheek who would ask their father for fish and get vipers. Jesus claimed to be the serpent he had to be put on the cross like the bronze serpent was on the stick also in revelations 2216 Jesus said he was the MorningStar. Your translation of the Bible is based on someone’s narrative that you believed the serpent was the only one in the Genesis story telling the truth. They did not surely die the day they aid of the fruit of knowledge and Jesus brought knowledge just you seeking after knowledge is a sin according to Christianity.

No less a legendary mathematician and atheist than the late Stephen Hawking pronounced no flaw in the data or mathematics. It is mathematically impossible for earth to have been created randomly. He stated that “he would have to reexamine his assumptions.”
