Wyatt Didn't Consider Himself A "Fast Draw," He Focused On being Deliberate & Accurate. Likewise For "Wild Bill." Also, They Had An Uncanny Ability To Quickly "Size Up" A Situation & Act✝️🌵🙂🙂🙂👍🇺🇸!

They completely forgot about Billy Dixon.
He shot that Comanche off his horse at over a thousand yards during the Second Adobe Walls fight in Texas.
Bat Masterson was in that fight as well.

Yes, Black Powder Had A Tendency To Attract & Hold Moisture, Misfires Were Not Uncommon. Again "Wild Bill" Was Known For Regularly Practicing, & Kept His Arms Cleaned & Oiled. For A Pistol, "Billy" Preferred A .41 Colt "Thunderer," A Double Action. It's Been Said He Liked The Way It Fit His Small Hands. Beyond This, His Exploits (As With Many Others,) Have Been Exaggerated. Annie Must've Had Incredible Eyes & Co-Ordination!

I have had many 1000 rd days at the range, and didnt bother to go unless I was going to shoot at least 300 rds. I've shot more rds in one day, than hichok or earp fired in their entire careers as gunfighters. i once lived in a tent at a range and fired 24,000 rds of my cast lead .45's in 6 weeks. 600 rds per day on average, for 6 weeks. A box of .45 L colt revolver rds was $2, in the 1879s, when men worked hard, 70+ hour weeks for $20, a bunk and beans. if you "think' that anybody shot 50 rds per week, youj're nuts. and probably nobody averaged firing 50 rds a MONTh. 50 rd a month is NOTHING, folks. Only bank robbers had that sort of money and they spent it on booze, gambling women and opiods, or replacing a horse or some sort of gear. Today, I can cast and load a rd of .45 for about 10c, while i clear $30 per hour. One hour of paid work lets me pay for the components for 300 rds of .45. It also takes me about 2 hours to make the bullets and assemble 300 rds of ammo. if I bought the ammo new, retail, it would be 40c per rd, or $120 for 300 rds. So im saving $90 in 2 hours. Now, yes, I COULD buy somebody's cast bullet reloads, for 30c per shot, maybe even 25c, but I"m still saving $20 per hour. at the very least. and i find casting and loading to be pleasant hobbies, given the sort of mass production gear that i use.

The content is pretty good except for some pronunciation errors by the AI narrator. The fact that many of the pictures used to illustrate various points are so anachronistic that I found the video to be distracting. The “Old West” covered a period of perhaps 25-30 years yet your illustrations span about 450 -500 years. I found this distracting. Perhaps the pictures were selected by AI.

"I have to figure that either Boone or Crockett was best the best pistol shot I know of was Hickok shooting Tutt. I would think both Bat Masterson and Wyatt Earp became great rifle shots when they were using up bison on the Plains.

The pistol was not designed for field combat. It was designed for officers to use in close contact situations. Pistols were notoriously inaccurate at any distance. When accuracy was needed, westerners invariably chose to use a rifle. Chances are that, Outside of Annie Oakley's public performances, most of the best western shooting was done by individuals alone in the woods or fields shooting at game. Buffalo Bill Cody earned his nickname and reputation shooting game, especially buffalo, supplying meat for railroad crews. In a famous contest, he killed 68 buffalo to his opponents 48. He accomplished this while firing from horseback. If we note that Annie was not really a westerner, though she spent most of her life with western people, That would make Buffalo Bill the best western shooter, though there is no official record of him killing anybody, though he did claim responsibility for killing the Cheyenne chief Yellow Hair in combat.
The point is that, in the west, the best shooting was not in famous gunfights, but by hunters alone out in the plains and woods. The sight of your next meal is much better motivation for accurate shooting than a quarrel over a pocket watch.
