  There is a video of Stevie Ray Vaughan playing a Squire and he sounded exactly like him, that just settled it for me from that point. Inspired every time you play Pete

  As a person with multiple guitars, a few amps, pedals, and a multi effects unit- I’d like to tell the young and old aspiring guitarists alike that the magic is found in the time you spend playing your instrument, whatever it is. ‘Your sound’ won’t come from your rig, it will come from your playing. Spend less time in the pursuit of gear, that is a never ending search that on its own leaves you unsatisfied, and more time in search of your voice on the instrument. Then when you find it, the gear can become a tool, much like the paint and brush of a painter. Because it’s not the brush and paint that creates the art, but the artist who wields them.

  I think musicians should stop judging each others' purchases based on "skill". Nobody who buys a Porsche 911 GT3 RS can drive a Toyota Corolla to its full potential, let alone the Porsche. But car people mostly don't say the petty, judgmental stuff guitar players say to each other about expensive purchases. If only people with the "skill" to "deserve" to play a Custom Shop or Private Stock guitar bought them, there'd be like 23 sold a year.

  I’m 59 years old living in the good ole USA!! Started guitar 2 years ago and I am in heaven!! Working hard to improve.This podcast made me soooo happy and widened my smile.   Thanks, Peter, for your honest and straightforward video. I went through a similar journey, and after trying and looking at many guitars, fretboards, and pickups, I realized that what I really need is something that both my body and mind feel comfortable with—something lightweight and ergonomic.<br><br>After trying guitars like a Les Paul and an ESP LTD, I was actually happiest with the Squier Sonic Strat. Even without a tremolo, the body felt very light and comfortable. In the end, I realized that comfort and how a guitar feels in my hands matter much more to me than specs or brand names.

  Pete is spot on. It&apos;s all the player and not the tools. I&apos;m an old hacker. Played acoustic for 5+ decades and am relatively proficient with it. Decided to lean into electric about ten years ago. I love it and I suck. I&apos;m okay with that. My electric guitars range from an $850 Yamaha Revstar (arguably one of the best for the money) to a $4k Heritage Custom Core H-150. In the middle are mostly Fenders (my favorites). While I can feel some small differences, when I play any of these guitars they sound more alike than different. When a really good player or my teacher plays any of my guitars, they sound amazing and you can hear big differences in each guitar&apos;s voice. I&apos;m like &quot;Damn! Why can&apos;t I make it sound that cool?&quot;<br><br>I think it comes down to making a choice to be a gear head/tone chaser or a guitar player. I got caught up buying guitars, amps (4), and pedals because I wanted to sound like guys like Pete. Hearing good players make my stuff sound amazing made me realize it isn&apos;t the gear. Now, most of the time I plug straight into an &nbsp;amp and make myself just play the guitar. It&apos;s taught me more about tone and touch than thousands of dollars and endless tone chasing ever could.<br><br>Play your guitar.

  Hey Pete, I’ve been playing for over 50 years and I have to tell you, there isn’t one thing that you’ve said that I can disagree with. Nothing is more important than practice. A good player can make any guitar sound good and you’re the perfect example. Nothing sounds or more importantly feels like a real amp. In the interest of full disclosure I do have both inexpensive and expensive guitars. Nice to hear your real feelings on this subject. So happy I found your channel.
