The reason why Blaidd attacks you is because he is a vessel of the two fingers created to keep Ranni in check, as it were.
Ranni deviated from the greater will and Blaidd went mad trying to oppose his fate so he could help Ranni.

I just want to say, I know sometimes people in the comments playfully rib you for missing something that was "right there," but as someone who heavily used guides during my playthrough, I'm very often thinking to myself, "There's no way he's going to notice/follow this without looking it up" and then 9 times out of 10 you do! You're a very thorough and explorative player and I love watching that.

One bit of lore that helps explain Deeproot Depths. Ranni and Godwyn died at the same time but in two different ways - Ranni died in body but not spirit, which is why she switches bodies so often and Godwyn died in spirit but not body. Godwyn’s corpse has been growing and expanding throughout the Lands Between since his death. He “lives in Death” which is why Fia worships him as a savior. Hope that helps!

What's important to remember when playing these games is that hidetaka miyazaki is a sick, twisted man who loves causing pain and suffering

I just want to reiterate, please don't feel bad about using the mimic tear, regardless of what some of the player base may think. Miyazaki himself (the director of this game as well as several of the previous Soulsborne titles) has said that he used the mimic tear and other summons when he played Elden Ring, to make it easier. There's no shame in it!

Episode 21 comments as i watch along!:

- RIP Blaidd, Loyal beyond your creation.

- RIP Seluvis, you were the worst. Traitorous pervert.

- RIP Ranni, in body but not spirit, a failed ritual resulting in the death blight that now infects the lands between

- Oooh! You just picked up on something big! 41:55 "Characters in this game seem to be able to exist in multiple forms". Light and Shadow, Order and Chaos, good and evil, 2 halves of a whole that split in opposite directions. Many characters, objects, and themes seem to demonstrate these fractures...🤫

- The mixed physique does exactly what you think it does, it just doesn't last very long.

- "What if i just ride through, would you guys judge me?" In the words of Gandalf: "FLY YOU FOOLS!". If it's good enough for Gandalf, it's good enough for me.

- RIP Rogier, Last you spoke he was inflicted with death blight and apologized in advance for what he was afraid he would do.

- You can mend the elden ring in several way, represented by each of the endings. You now have 2 different ways to mend it(Dark Moon, Death mending), the choice is yours. there are 6 endings representing different futures for the land between that you can choose upon becoming Elden lord :)

---

Lore:

Blaidd and the Shadows: The Empyreans are given a shadow in the form of wolves in order to accompany and guide the young royals into becoming vassals of the Elden Ring. Ranni was given Blaidd who was meant to keep her bound to her destiny, and prevent her from turning on the two fingers. However, Blaidd was incredibly loyal and refused to turn on her.

The baleful shadow was an assassin disguised as Blaidd in order to stop her, and when you finally see Blaidd again he is battling his very nature to prevent himself from betraying Ranni.

Seluvis: I can't remember if you found his sex dungeon or not, but the potion he gave you to give to Nepheli would have stripped her of agency and made her a living puppet for his own gratification.
Why is he dead? Well, you missed an interaction with Blaidd before going into Nokron. He would have been waiting outside the hole and telling you to go on ahead because he had to take care of a traitor. Seluvis is that traitor.

If you had continued Seluvis's questline and earned his trust, he'd let you in on a scheme. He would have made a potion specifically for Ranni in order to turn her into his own puppet. However, had you attempted to go through with his plan she would have outsmarted both of you having already known what you were up to, and would be utterly disgusted with you. She would then snap her fingers and kill you like an insignificant bug. 🤣

Fia: As a deathbed companion, she is trying to bring Godwin back to life. When Ranni performed her ritual, she only had half of the cursemark. It killed her body, and killed Godwin's soul. She lived on in spirit, he lived on as a souless death root spreading blight across the lands between. It is unknown if Ranni knew this would happen or not, and it is possible she was tricked. The black knife assasins betrayed her in some unknown way thats serious enough that Blaidd still hunts them down, so its possible that they are the reason Godwin died. It is also possible that it was simply a necessary evil she accepted to rebuild the world under the law of freedom.

The mending runes of death will restore the elden ring by granting life after death to all.(undead ending aka: zombies)

---

Where to go next:

The mountains to the north are the next region in the story, however i think a lot of viewers would enjoy seeing you conquer the Volcano and some of the surrounding forts :)

You probably picked up on this from the comments in the last video, but you tried every wall EXCEPT the secret wall 🤣

Loving Ezeekat Tuesday with ER. I started a new game as a warrior and it’s working out. Watching your walkthrough helped me with my game play and I am FOR SURE using a shield like you. Thank you for sharing great content.
