This is the first time I've actually understood what Nick said 😂 "because I think I can see your house from here"

I grew up with this song and I always wondered what it was all about. Last year I found out. Simon le bons dad was major gambler. It lead to some very hairy times for the le bon family. It lead to the break down of the Simon le bons parents marriage. If Simon le bons dad had a successful streak, his mood great but if he had heavy losses his mood could be volatile and his mother took her children out of the family home. As a teenager Simon le bon was well aware that mood at home volatile. He concentrating on the band, the music. The reflex is all about his father's gambling. The reflex is lonely child who's waiting by the phone. That was lebons sister who was waiting by the phone to hear when her dad was coming back and there mom had explosive temper.
