These Are The Bathroom Upgrades You'll ALWAYS Regret

This video is good advice! Thank you. I'd like to add one more point to consider - old age! I'm a carer for my mum, who is no longer able to wash herself. Does your cozy shower have enough room for you or a professional carer to get in there? Is there a seat and hand rails? Splashes are inevitable - consider a wet room floor. Did you know that the toilet seat height is usually too low for an elderly person, or one who is injured? You don't have to be elderly to struggle to get up of a toilet seat - I had a knee injury, thankfully much better now, but for several months, it was agony trying to get up off a standard height toilet seat. I'm now in the process of specifying a new bathroom which fulfills all these elderly-person/carer needs and it isn't simple. But it will be a lot simpler than trying to retrofit the elderly person needs into a modern bathroom. E.g. is the door wide enough for the wheelchair? Are there plenty of grab-rails so mum can hold onto them? Is there a seating area where mum can sit while I dry her, and can I walk around her? Do think about these things up front. These don't need to be ugly features, they can be made sleek and beautiful if you think about them up front. And yes - it really does help to have lots of space. One thing I'd love to have is a bath with a properly designed bath lift, rather than those flimsy, bulky and cumbersome bath lifts.

Pro tip: stone yards often have gorgeous off casts of expensive stone that work great as bathroom countertops.

This video would be much better if the video actually illustrated what was being talked about.

I found a waterfall showerhead that isn't overhead but is mounted on the wall like a regular showerhead and it's adjustable

It’s pretty easy and inexpensive to buy containers to organize inside a bathroom vanity with doors. Yes drawers are nice, but if they are out of the budget it doesn’t mean you’re doomed to disorganization in the vanity. I’ve seen plenty of people with disorganized drawers and with lots of drawers in their bathroom but still lots of clutter on the counter.

You just saved me a bunch of money. I didn't realize how impractical a lot of these upgrades are.

Shower doors. Some limit entry and cleaning access. They have many corners and details to clean (SCRUB!!). Leaks can be damaging and expensive to repair.<br>A proper curtain can be opened wider, and can be thrown in the laundry, and are inexpensive to replace. There is a reason hotels, where cleanliness is paramount, use curtains.

“Feels expensive”. I am not here to impress anyone else. They don’t like my home, they can leave. Who wants another all white room that looks as sterile as a doctor’s office. Huge open rooms so all that enter sees your messes and all voices echo loudly.
