Can't wait for the marathon vlog to drop! So impressive. By far my new favorite youtube vlogs - they're fun, inspiring and love the overall editing style. Lift/run IBEX program has been such a blast to follow the past few months.

Love this podcast. Reluctant on doing the CrossFit open because I’m tired of training for the unknown.

I’m so glad to finally hear trainers being honest about the differences.

Really enjoyed this podcast! Didn't really start 'working out' until my 50's then found Crossfit. Loved it for quite some time but goals have changed. At 60 I want to be fit and strong. Finding I need the mix, the strength, mobility, supplemental lifts, conditioning, etc. I have found that with IBEX. I can have a goal and do several blocks on one program and then changing it up to another program for some blocks. Thanks!

Key here is she has an amazing baseline with the endurance training she did. That helped her evolve into the beast she is in crossfit

The crossfit games is not crossfit. As an everyday joe, there’s no better general fitness methodology for me than crossfit. It’s not a sport for most of us.

Great convo, and loved the some deeper insight into your programming. In future episodes would definitely appreciate deeper insight into the purpose of different runs and how it benefits the goal (i.e. Zone 2, tempo runs, those weirdly programmed runs that include some fast moderate and slow with prescribed rest or changes in pace, etc)

To me, 'Hybrid Training' means (or should mean) your exercise modality promotes overall fitness or better, it maintains or improves athleticism - You're A Generalist. If you "train" for a specific goal, it requires specificity and thus deviates from generalization. You drop certain exercises that will decrease your ability to excel in that single domain. I think most people define their approach to exercise as "Hybrid" simply because they want to lift weights and run and need a way to label their efforts...

I'm not a Cross-fitter, but at its core, it's Hybrid Training, however, training for the CrossFit Games is more on specificity. Games prep (or any CrossFit competition) training is specific and not 'Hybrid'. You are preparing to be the best at CrossFit Workouts haha... CrossFit workouts, on their own, as long as you allow the diversity in exercise selection is a great approach to building athleticism, but no the only way.

Goal- lose fat while getting toned. I know I don’t challenge myself enough doing strength training at home. Strength classes in gym are okay - but still didn’t work out hard enough. Thinking of trying cross fit - if they have other seniors. I welcome other ideas.

Loving the podcasts! I think something happened though because it is not up on spotify FYI. Congrats on the marathon!
