I just understood that this is a small channel. Wow. I expected to see thousands of views and a good 100k+ following, the quality matches up really well to other, big, and really creative videos. I loved this and never heard of the Livyatan before. I thought the video was really great quality. Like this, and more unique topics you'll definitely grow big!
Thank you for teaching me something new.

The idea that an ecosystem can only support one species of apex predator in the same niche is a complete myth, born from the fact that fossils are hard to find and that modern ecosystems are way WAY less biodiverse than what we see in the distant past (at least as far as large animals are concerned).
At least four other large cats of similar size shared the same habitat as Smilodon, including Homotherium, the American Lion, the American Cheetah, Jaguars, PLUS several canines, hyenas, and bears. All of these genuine apex predators lived alongside eachother, competing for a lot of the same food sources and all went extinct around the same time, roughly.

Smilodon may have been a Camel hunting specialist, and the American Cheetah probably had a niche its speedy build helped with, but meat is meat. All predators will target and eat whatever they can. So they definitely competed with the more generalized Lions, Jaguars, and Homotherium. That’s why so many wound up in tar pits. They were literal death traps filled with stinky, delicious carrion.

at 6:20, some orcas group learned to kill adult bluewhales, and were recorded doing so.
so yes livyatan could kill blue whales, especially if there were working in groups.

Great video, loved it! The only thing that disturbed me is that I don't know if it is your real voice or an AI generated one, but it felt like it was always in the same tone, I would add more differenciation to it. Other than that the video is solid and I hope your channel grow big!! (Everything well explained)

Hello, Great video! If you could add the measures with the metric system on the side of the video, that would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

Great video! Never knew about the leviyatan, I’m assuming it’s named after the leviathan

Stands to reason if these are compared to oversized orcas, then megalodon had the same relationship great whites share with orcas. Great whites have been observed traveling MILES out of well established migration patterns spontaneously and when researchers began to put the pieces together, these detours coincided with orca hunting seasons. Orcas are the true nightmares of the sea. Most animals are just attacking to eat and survive, but orcas have been observed expressing aspects of psychopathy in their little game of "Slap the Seal". Biologists can't explain why they do this outside "just for fun".
