  I&apos;m 82. Grew up in the mountains where we canned all our stuff in a hot water bath. However, cooking times were long, like 3 or 4 hours for green beans. Nobody got sick, and nobody starved to death. We worked hard and ate like kings.

  I&apos;m 63 and I found you on YouTube and I can sit and listen to you for hours. I love to listen to you and all of the wonderful things our ancestors did. I remember helping and learning these things women used to do. It breaks my heart that people don&apos;t work hard the way we used to. People nowadays are missing so much. I feel! No respect, caring, honesty, why because no one has to work for it. Love you.

  I still do my own canning. I make my own lard too. Like you I was brought up taking food to the family of someone who had passed away. My grandmother never used recipes. So nothing about her cooking was ever written down. Thank you, Sir for all of your videos. They bring back a lot of happy memories.

  I’m 62 and grew up in the hills of Tennessee. Mom made chocolate gravy on the weekends and none of it went to waste. Hot biscuits and chocolate gravy was our favorite breakfast as kids!

  My Mama taught me Canning when I was young, but my Daddy was the better cook. But neither knew how to cook with a woodstove (they taught me campfire cooking, though). I&apos;m learning backwards, everything I can, so my girls and grandbabies all know how to get by and live well, no matter the circumstances. Now THAT&apos;S a family legacy!

  I grew up this way. My mom’s family came from eastern Kentucky. All these foods and techniques were common to me. I still carry these forward.

  Chocolate gravy: &nbsp; 3/4 stick (6 Tbs) butter melted in a skillet. Add 3 Tbs flour. Let it brown, lightly. Add 2 C milk all at once while stirring. In a separate container, mix together 1 C sugar and 3 Tbs cocoa. Add to the skillet and slowly bring just to a boil. Add a little water if it begins to get too thick. Serve over split biscuits with butter.

  I grew up in NE AR and we grew up on chocolate gravy. I love it! &nbsp;I have introduced it to many many people over the 57 years that I’ve been married.
