I really appreciate your videos Eric. We hear this similar theme from you, and others, over and over. There's a very good reason for this - IT'S TRUE!!! If you have what you need for your required/desired spending, you might be closer than you think! Absolutely worth repeating - once gone, no matter how much money you have, you can't buy your time or health back!!!

I recently stopped working at 48 with 1.3 mUSD invested in the stock market and with some additional income generating assets. This video reassures me that I don't HAVE to work again unless I want to. I live in Europe so with slightly different trade offs in terms of tax and health care costs. The time trade off is universally true though. I want to enjoy my time and I am!

Literally just came from my CFP this afternoon to build my plan. I turn 60 next month, single with no debt and have $1.3 million in cash. He showed me the math. I can do what I want and pretty much buy what I want. And will still leave my son $4 million by the time I go.

I'm 49, heading to Nicaragua this Thursday! This literally the rationale i used to pull the trigger and "retired " earlier than I originally planned.

We are all dealt a different hand in life and may not know the outcome (health challenges, family emergencies, ???) with sufficient advanced warning.

Choose your "equilibrium" path / set point wisely and, carpe diem!

This is exactly why I retired at 63, I had had enough, plus you never know when your health will go down hill. Have extra money and spend it on international travel

A better lesson from these examples is to not wait for retirement to enjoy your life. If I enjoy life and die soon after retiring, I am happy my portfolio goes to my family. Life isn’t magically better just because you retire.

In the last 6 months 3 people I know have died between the ages 55-58. All were ostensibly healthy and fit a few years beforehand. A reminder this is not a dress rehearsal.

Oh sweet mercy, this title hit me so hard I had to put my phone down like it suddenly weighed 40 pounds because wow, Why $1.5m+ Saved Might Be the BEST Time to Retire had my brain whispering, “Marquis… don’t get emotional… you don’t even have $1.5m in emotional stability.” And instantly I had this whole internal dialogue like, “Sir, imagine retiring,” and my brain shot back, “Retire from what? The chaos? The snacks? The procrastination?” Classic. And oh my, this title dragged me straight back to when I was 23 and confidently told my aunt I’d retire by 40, and she laughed so hard she had to lean on the fridge for support, then handed me $20 like I was a child who needed encouragement. And ha, the idea of having $1.5m saved feels so majestic that my soul briefly left my body to go look at Zillow listings I cannot afford. Meanwhile I’m remembering the time I tried to “test” my retirement readiness by taking a week off work, only to spend the entire time reorganizing my sock drawer and Googling “why do I feel guilty when I relax.” Oh wow, your title has the same energy as when someone says, “You know, now might be the perfect time to take a break,” and suddenly you realize you’ve been running on caffeine, hope, and delusion for 14 years. And honestly, if your next video is something like “How to Retire Comfortably Without Crying Into Your Checking Account,” I’m grabbing popcorn because clearly I need guidance before my savings account starts sending me passive aggressive notifications.

more money never makes you worse off. You just pay a bit more x% tax and you still keep (1-x)%. Things like ACA cliff is rare case. Maybe the gov needs to get rid of ACA since so many people intentionally abuse it.

I have enough for my self, just working on my family’s financial security. I have 11 years to double what I have.
