💬 The rawness in her voice is what makes this such a powerful and sad piece of art.

Eva Cassidy made the song her own. An incredible talent gone too soon, she passed away in 1996 at age 33 from melanoma. Love your reactions ❤️.

It's so wonderful that Eva is still being discovered so many years after her untimely death.

Less than a year after this performance she was gone. Not recognized until after that; such a shame. What a great loss.

Yes, this song was originally sung by Judy Garland who portrayed Dorothy Gale in the classic 1939 film "The Wizard of Oz". Native Hawaiian musician Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole had a platinum selling cover of this song. He also died much too soon at the age of 38. This song was played as his ashes were scattered in the Pacific Ocean off of Makua Beach, Hawaii.

Imagine stopping at some club to get a drink and seeing Eva preforming every song from her great cd <b>"Live at Blues Ally"</b> , and it could have happened because she did it in one take..................and she nailed it!

This is a song that someone named Judy Garland sang in the Wizzard of Oz. She died before she could hear how this song was supposed to sound. Eva took songs we thought we knew, and did them her way, and made them brand new and unheard of. Nine months after this performance, Eva left the clouds behind her and went over the rainbow. I never knew her, but today I miss her.

If you haven't discovered yet, the song was first used in the 1939 movie, "The Wizard of Oz." It was originally sung by Judy Garland. But Eva, RIP, owns it now, and will forever. She made it her own.
