Latin teacher here, Olim can mean a few things, including once upon a time, but it can also mean, essentially, “someday”. It’s an incredibly clever way of starting your story with “once upon a time” while still tying that song into the Someday idea.

I think another interesting thing to look at is the text and the choice of language. A man in Frollo's position and with his background should be offering his prayer in Latin but instead he sings in the 'vulgar' language, presumably french.<br><br>Now of course, an important reason for this is to make the song understandable to the viewer, but I do believe there is actually some intention behind the contrast of language. <br><br>The Archdeacon and Priests in the background sing the beginning of the Confiteor, remaining in the Latin the entire time. Meanwhile Frollo, only ever uses the 'Beatae Mariae' and goes on to reject the very essence of the Confiteor.<br><br>Confiteor - I confess.<br><br>But Frollo does not confess. After you hear the priests begin the Confiteor in the background, Frollo himself skips the beginning of the prayer (Confiteor Deo Omnipotenti) as well as all the other appellations, using only the Beatae Mariae. In other words, he, Frollo the Judge, refuses to let himself be judged, not by a higher authority nor by his peers.<br><br>As the song progresses, the juxtaposition continues. While the priests offer themselves in humility, Frollo's pride urges him to praise his own virtue. While the priests proclaim that they have sinned, Frollo extolls his own purity. Where the priests acknowledge fault, he lays blame. And so on and so forth. Every line sung by the priests is denied and/or inverted by Frollo.<br><br>Looking at the Confiteor and Hellfire side by side is quite revealing in just how far removed he is from his faith at this moment. As you rightly pointed out, Frollo sees himself not as a man but as the Divine.<br><br>Latin is the language to address God but since Frollo never surrenders to His authority, it is only right that he would sing in the 'vulgar' language. Because Frollo isn't praying here. He is blaming. His prayer is an entirely worldly act, removed from any sense of spirituality.<br><br>(There's also an interesting thing to look at in the sense that he is almost speedrunning most of the deadly sins in the song, Pride, Lust, Wrath and Greed but that's another story.)

Using the Confiteor to say "you know I am a righteous man, a fact of which I'm justly proud" is an interesting device. It underscores how ungodly Frolo is, as not only is pride a sin but the whole point of the Penitential Rite is to confess that we are <b>not</b> righteous, not brag about how righteous we are
