  When Trump took office and started talking about <i>annexing Canada and leaving the UN,</i> I was playing Fallout 3 for the 1st time. Seeing those newspaper articles splash on the loading screen was...freaky.

  the &nbsp;reason why Doom was chosen was because older people can remember the question always asked about some random piece of electronic device: &quot;Can it play Doom.&quot; Being able to run Doom on something was a litmus test for computational power of a device. Later on, that litmus test became &quot;Can it run Crysis&quot; as when that game came out, it was the most demanding video game on the market. I do not know if there is a bench test video game for the current day, but this is the reason why the neural computer was being made to play Doom.

  Our real world military called their laser weapon &quot;Helios&quot;. A little to close to the place we associate with the arcmedies laser weapon from New Vegas.😵‍💫

  Honestly, the insightful way the game writers have explored social and economic development and our relationship with technology over the decades is what makes Fallout one of my favourite game franchises - I actually use examples from the games to bolster the examples I take from other sci-fi like Bladerunner when teaching my senior English unit about &quot;how to define humanity in the age of advanced technology&quot;.
