I love how they took her from being an Illyrian from books in the 80s and made it canon.

I feel the girl knows. Kids in the futures are educated like geniuses. She’s probably aware at least of how the transporter works as a concept.

Imagine how awful it would be if M’Benga didn’t find a cure until he was much, much older? So she’s cured, but she saw how her father has aged every time he brings her out.

Two hearts is Doctor Who. A Vulcan heart is located about where our left kidney is (if I'm remembering correctly which fist Doctor was using when he said, "It gets you right here. Oh, in you're case Mr. Spock about here.")

It is clear to me that this enterprise is MORE THE SIZE of the Kelvin universe, PIKE'S QUARTERS, Sickbay two levels, walking space behind transporters, BRIDGE much larger. BUT ALL THAT SAID IT LOOKS GREAT

To explain the whole genetic modification thing: it’s a massive moral gray zone that can very easily slip into pure eugenics, hence the eugenics war. Imagine you can make anyone however you want with genetic modification, what do you do? Erase mental illness? I’m autistic, would my unique viewpoint be eradicated to “fix” me? I would love the downsides to be taken away at any cost, but I’m one person and I’d still love to keep my unique view but that’s based on everything else including the downsides so it’s complicated. Now ask what else you genetically eradicate. Do you erase angry people? People who love too hard? Asexual people are useless to society when it comes to making more people, so do you get rid of that? Eugenics is a slippery slope so it’s arguably better to just ban it overall despite the pain it may cause because it prevents eugenics gone mad. I was kinda upset personally as I watched this and heard the genetic modification ban partially fought against and deemed discriminatory until I heard the view of our beloved #1 explaining how the modification of her people works which seemingly avoids asking those questions by virtues of how the modification is used. So yeah, genetic modification isn’t as great as it sounds, it raises a lot of moral questions with no good answers to speak of. Great reaction btw! Loved this episode!
