  I did it on a low salary. I live in one of the highest COL areas too. I lived below my means and put away 10% - 15% each paycheck until I retired 10 years ago at 59.

  I just hit $20k for my emergency fund, and maxed of my IRA contributions this year, yay! Time to invest for my brokerage acct. 😊 hoping to reach 10k by the on of the year

  The people making that amount aren’t getting a 5k raise , through negotiation.<br><br>They are entry level positions.

  Low salary person, bought Ramit&apos;s book, make sure I watch as many posts as possible (which is pretty much every day). For me, it has been a game changer from lockdown to now. My journey was 100% changing my psychology. Thank you Ramit.

  The problem I see is some jobs there is no negotiation. Teaching is a profession that you can&apos;t negotiate wages.

  I just came up with a plan that I want to save $100k prior to having my first child. $25k to cover 6 months off work, $25k to cover hospital bills/startup costs, and $50k to cover all my debts. This video popped up right on time! Thank you Ramit!

  I finally did a conscious spending plan, it turns out I have 2644 in guilt free spending, I thought I was saving a lot, I guess I was wrong...

  To get a $5000 raise, you would have to increase your hourly rate by $2.40 gross. Anyone making $35-$40,000 have you ever got a $2.40 an hour raise? Usually get a dollar and then from there on it gets to be less. Now, if you can find a different job at the same place you work that pays more that would be a way of doing it. Getting a second job or working more overtime is much easier than hoping you get a $2.40 raise. Now could you get maybe $.50 or $1 raise? Yes!
