  My favorite era! I miss the old N&W, Southern, and  Conrail. Along with both the old Chessie, and Seaboard Systems.

  I still have this vhs in my collection, and still watch it on occasion. And the very reason I started visiting the "Pokie" for years before they finally tore down all the N&W CPL signals that I loved. Sadly not worth making the trip up there anymore, and I haven been to Bluefield since 2019 now.

  My father was an engineer in this division for 20+ years. He was probably either a brakeman, conductor  or new engineer when this documentary was filmed. Hired on around 83/84.

  Nice old stuff , I was out at Coopers trestle in Bramwell , VA .last summer and it took me 15 minutes to locate it . The trees have TOTALY obscured the view at <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CdoTPj0sLo&amp;t=460">7:40</a> &nbsp;!! &nbsp;Glad I got the shots in the late 1980&apos;s .

  It was interesting to see a Southern Pacific and a Southern locomotive lashed up together.

  I really enjoyed this. Being from Coal Mtn. WV in Wyoming co, and now residing not far from Davy, i know all of these places, and recall the older locomotives in the 80&apos;s here. &nbsp;It was right around this time my dad took me to Iager to see the 1218 steam engine, a day i will never forget.

  Lived in Williamson oct. 1, 1975 , to Sep. 30, 1979. &nbsp;Took oodles of slides. &nbsp;Lost about 20 trays of slides in the April 5, 1977, flood. &nbsp;Still hurts.

  Narrator doesn’t say ‘Appalachian’ the way folks do in West Virginia. To me, they have the right to tell us how to say it.
