Thanks for watching! Who did you relate to the most when The Devil Wears Prada came out: Andy, Emily or Miranda? Has that changed in the 20 years since?

Up next, check out our recent video taking a look back at the career and lifestyle of Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw to analyze why it just seems impossible to live like Carrie nowadays: https://youtu.be/9Nfmk92zCRU

Meryl Streep is gorgeous in this movie.

I didn't think that Nate was just upset about her missing his birthday. He was more upset that they were growing apart and that she was going in a different direction than he'd anticipated.

The 90's were all about men who had perfectly good office jobs but destroyed them because they wanted more out of life (Fight Club, The Truman Show, Office Space, American Beauty). Typical Gen X "you can't pay me enough to care" stuff.

The Devil Wears Prada is a Millennial masterpiece because it's the complete opposite. A woman who goes through hell and back just for an office job. It plays right into what Gen Y was told that if we work hard and "hustle", we will have the life we want.

I love this movie cause it fits in more with the notion that the whole girl boss idea conflicts with capitalism that was meant to support the patriarchy.

I think what’s not addressed is that she takes all of that prowess (& the clothes) when she leaves runway …she undoubtedly benefited as she goes to new job prospects looking exponentially more “put together” (& therefore more professional/capable/etc)

Up until I was 35 I hustled my ass off for work. That’s what my generation was taught to do, that whoever gets less rest is the winner. And then it nearly killed me. After a cerise of events I just chose to stop. The other option was not doable anymore. And for the past 10 years I’ve leaned back and did only what I needed to do. I’m still successful and I still do a great job. I just don’t care about impressing anyone anymore. Now I’m 45 and I have a pretty stress free life without crippling anxiety and depression

Okay, I have a Thought that I have been waiting forever to share. This video is the perfect place. Burlesque IS The Devil Wears Prada, but Tess is a much better leader than Miranda. Tess is tough and detail-oriented, but also fair and supportive. When there is still work to be done, Tess stays late rather than making her employees come in early. When her dancer gets pregnant, she becomes very soft. When one starts acting up, she gets tough, and when they apologize, she lets them come back. And Stanley Tucci is in BOTH! To be perfectly clear, I love both of these movies, but objectively, Tess is a better leader. Watch both one after the other and tell they are not the same, in all the best ways.

I never really thought of Miranda as a villain I thought it was Andie’s boyfriend and friends for not being more supportive 😂
