  They didn’t listen to the men on the Texas tower.  And that is the saddest part of this story.   They could have been put on a ship and had the ship stay in the area. Condolences to the families.

  A 5,000 ton non watertight structure balancing on 3 hollow stilts with inch thick walls, out in a ferocious relentless ocean in an area prone to hurricanes. What could possibly go wrong?

  the leadership shouldve went to prison, the excuse not to abandon a platform that was well known to be dangerous because there was top secret equipment on board, is ludicrous , they couldve easily parked a ship near it to make sure none was stolen while it was all removed.

  I have gotten to dive the tower many times. It used to still be elevated by 1 leg supporting the platform. You could swim under it and the amount of life around the tower is amazing. The last time I dove this wreck the leg has given way and the platform is flat on the bottom now. I was tuna fishing around the tower wreck 2 weeks ago catching all the 60lb yellowfins you could ever want

  They knew it was coming down. Why leave 27 souls there. No one should have been there at that time.

  Cannot imagine how frightened they were. Here in FL, the storms are horrifying on land. Weather can be like a devil. Nothing like it.
