My baby brother died at 23 from a tree climbing accident. He had been doing tree work for 8 years at that point and climbing for 4 years. One misstep and it was all over. He would’ve been 38 on June 1. His son was 7 months old so he will never know him. Take this serious people. It is a very dangerous job.

I have been watching this channel for several years now, and I have learned a lot. The biggest lesson I have learned is that I'm hiring professionals. There is no way you're gonna catch my chubby butt climbing trees. 😊

Dude you might not believe me but you saved my life. My friend and I were going to attempt this on a tree at my house and after seen your video I can say with 1000% confidence I can not do this and you saved my life. Seriously I can't say thank you enough, this is for professionals not random dudes with Amazon climbing gear.

I was a rigger in the studios and arena's in Los Angeles for 32 years. I walked on I beams hanging motors for concerts and shows in the arena's and on scaffolding in outdoor stadiums. I installed and operated counter weight systems and hung motors in theatres and stages. I've been watching your channel for a while. This particular video really showed me how much I didn't know about how to do what you do as safely and easily as I might have thought I knew. Very enjoyable to watch and what an incredible teaching video this truly is. Thank you. You are very admirable.

I've been climbing for 25 years and only do dead wooding and trimming work on live trees now. I'm 64 and old school relying on my Blake's hitch and footlocking. Climbing is the best job in the World.

I have wanted to go into this industry since I was a kid. I’m 23 now and I finally have an interview for an apprenticeship arborist climber position and I’m really hoping I get it. Wish me luck and a safe journey!🙏🏻

This video is a great reminder of why you tree pro's charge what you charge to drop a tree.  You reference this as an "easy or basic" tree.....a lot of training, practice, and experience lead to that claim......Stay safe.

Jake, great educational video!<br>I can tell you as a now retired ole fossil who started felling in 1974, there needs to be more educational videos (like this one!) to help those out there that want to do more DIY, they can be safer doing it. And I can tell you that all chainsaws can be dangerous and the electric saws have instant on/torque that can catch even professionals off guard. Learn on the ground basics of chainsaw safety, learning the do&apos;s and don&apos;ts. You need to know the tensions and compressions that you will be dealing with and the consequences of each of those or you will absolutely learn the hard way! Also, every time you are done cutting ( regardless of saw running or off) SET the CHAIN BRAKE!!

A few notes from a career-certified Forest Service-clinically trained climber/class C hazard faller. Always run two limb over lanyards, one steel and one non-steel, Thus, you always have a rope around the bole when advancing plus having a spare, we will also use the non-steel limb over for the saw lanyard when limbing, it&apos;s adjustable and always attached to the saw. Some use a block/ring sling as their spare limb over but not advised if it&apos;s been shock loaded, but still better than nothing. We were taught back in the day to tie your rope bag a couple of feet up from the stopper knot at the end of your line, which actually has utility value when in the tree. A lot of arborists miss this key point: climb and top rope your tree before cutting. It gives you a couple of safety advantages. Firstly you can inspect all of the tree as you climb, set your life line no less than the 4&quot; diameter point and then you have rappel ability and more mobility rather than being on the spurs for the whole tree, it also keeps your life line away from the saws to reduce chance of it being cut. It only takes a few moments to top rope and inspect your tree. You should always be on the rope and just use your limb over lanyard for stability when cutting. It gives you the fastest escape out of the tree. Your lanyard is only used to get a rope in the tree and for stability when cutting. Also, A &nbsp;prusik is taught to be the backup to your auto-braking descending device. You are spending so much energy not using your rope and a descender as opposed to constantly working off your lanyard, managing your prusik, and being spurred in all day. The method you chunked down was mostly correct with the exception of not using an auto-braking descending device and not using both hands on the saw. The remedy to using both hands of the saw is making a much larger face to get past the balance point of the chunk thus allowing you to make a small back cut with both hands on the saw, thus also prevents gut pull and kicks the chuck away from you and allows you to cut from the side rather than behind the back cut. I know you are a production climber and feel there may be faster ways but ultimately, you need to go home and provide for your family.

New climbers DO NOT SPIKE TREES YOUR DO NOT PLAN ON REMOVING. Use your ropes either a blakes hitch, or a presic on your saddle always have 2 points of contact to tree. Thanks man i appreciate your content

Thank you for this brother. I watched this last night. Crazy I didn’t listen about cutting with you hand saw. I topped my first pine today, I didn’t let myself get out of the way enough. I panicked a little when the top started to go so i pulled my top handle saw back hard and hit my 4 arm, blood started squirting all over the place, i was able to repel down cuz i was tied in correctly when cutting. It’s so dangerous. Wow. Also im buying a hand saw right now. It does sound so simple. I’m thankful to be alive. I was able to get down fast with my zigzag and got a sling on my arm to stop the bleeding. Had i not been able to repel down idk what would have happened dude.
